I didn't read after the first three posts buttttt. I don't really watch much tv, when I do watch its either the discovery channel, the history channel, the national geographic channel, or the shit on late night pbs is alright sometimes.

I don't really watch much acting related stuff unless its in movies, I'm more concerned about information I guess (not trying to be condescending, to each his own is my motto).

What I don't like is how the majority of my friends set their watches to shows like "weeds", "sapronaos", or "entourage". It seems, from what I have seen at least, that these show center on:
Doing some gangster shit (Idolizing actors who play gangster is lame)
or, more often, spending massive amounts of money frivolously.

Just seems weird that some people just love watching other people spend money. Then again, I wouldn't consider any of my friends that intelligent.

Adding to that, I know A LOT of people that have shitty painting (you know, the ones bought in those center booths in the hallways of malls) featuring actors from gangster movies. It just strikes me as weird, do some people not understand that these are actors that get paid extraordinary amounts of money to do what children do for fun (pretending that is).

Not gonna stop anyone from watching what they want though. But idolizing that shit is lame (at least in my personal opnion).

True however there's a difference between some kids pretending and say Robert de niro. I would love to see some kids pull off his act. Some actors deserve the credit like de niro, al pacino and many others. Others make me want to puke that they get paid for their bad acting. But you have to admit that there are some incredibly talented actors out there that deserve their pay.

I agree. I like good acting, but if you cant distinguish between artists/entertainers and the gangsters their mimicking then there is something wrong. I can appreciate good actors for what they are and I'm sure most people are the same way. Its just a phenomena in my life that I have so many friends that don't understand the differense.

For example, If I were to say to my friends who idolize these actors for the wrong reasons that I was planning on becoming an actor then they would probably raise their eyebrows. Because acting isn't bad ass, acting isn't something a real man would be involved in. They seem to forget that before Anthony from Sopranos was shooting people execution style he had to learn how to hold a toy gun. He took acting classes and probably even did a little Shakespear in college.

I dont know why this bothers me so much. Probably because you can tell a lot about someone from the company they keep. I dont want people to see me as I see my friends, which is someone who rather watch someone pretend then do something with their own life. Hell, they rather watch someone pretend then even pretend themselves.

It's pathetic.
