Hello peoples...
I am a little pissed off at the show Weeds. Here is why. The amount of weed they showed locked up in the safe, is "NOT" 300k worth of product. The volume of weed they showed in the trunk of the car is "NOT" 300k worth. These puke fuk producers/writers are going to give every thug a "wrong" idea about the production of cannabis. I dont know how many of you got afraid when the character "Uturn" holds up the farmers, but i did.. Why? Cause i know you cant grow 300k worth of cannabis in a two bedroom house, in that amount of time. So lets think like a money/power/glory whore thug biotch: A 20 year old wanna-be hard thug is watching Weeds with his/her thug friends. They see that a home invasion is a quick way to make 300k. Him/her and their friends get a few stolen guns together and refine their scope to locate a grower (not that hard to figure out who is growing). These thugs break into a suspected growers house, where the thugs believe there is a stash of cash and weed. After breaking in, and possibly killing the grower and his/her family, the thugs are going to realize that there is at best 5 pounds of weed there. Its not what they expected, but good enough for them. The thugs have gotten a lesser amount of weed/money than expected, and possibly killed the medical user (i have read about a handful of these in my area alone).
So here is how i see it in reality. The Law, congress, judges wont decriminalize cannabis, so a black market is created. which causes crime and death in an industry that absolutely does NOT condone violence or crime. Then the big film industry creates a cannabis show that glorifies cannabis life style. Then they show you how easy it is to get robbed at gunpoint. now that has a duel purpose, one, it shows me and you (the farmers) that you better be careful cause there is a 300lbs black man with a uzi gonna kill you for you stash., and second its telling the thugs a step by step guide for robbing farmers. WTF? i feel sold out by showtime/weeds. Showtime "NEVER" went into detail on how to grow the plants, but they sure as shit show details on how to rob a canna farmer! FUK! I mean you dont see nuclear physicist showing idiots how to make a reactor do you? meaning: give intelligent people lethal information and you can expect and hope they do the right thing.. Give ignorant people lethal information and you can expect disaster.
This season on Weeds i expected to see how they grew their crops, and maybe to see some of the shortcomings of growing, like molds, spidermites, mechanical failures, etc.. but Oh Hell No.. those wouldnt draw the viewer in now would it? They need a 300lb man sporting a Uzi to get the viewers attention! WTF!
But seriously, do any of you feel that this show is turning in a wrong direction? 'Cause i must have missed the "Pot culture" of sporting guns in my 28 years of farming. I have only seen one gun in my day of smoking pot.. and it was hanging on the wall in the persons house as a eye piece. Well, i sure would like to know how you (fellow canna lovers) felt on this. feel free to rant on me, i can take it.. peace, love, wisdom...brother/sister..

heh! you are correct it is TV. good to know you (T-type) can blow it off. but what about the ignorant fool who needs alot of cash, to pay for a lifestyle they want to keep.? you dont feel they might "give it a try".?. What about the home pot invasions you read about in the news (which in on TV also). I dont watch alot of TV. only 4 shows (well 3 now)...

I think if someone is that type of ignorant fool who will rob someone, they'll do it if they think they'll get $300,000, or they'll do it if they think they can get $50. A thief is a thief, and to think that a TV show will motivate them to be more of a thief is kinda silly in my book. And if TV IS that strong of an influence, every time the cops show a bust "worth an extimated street value of 3.2 million dollars" then deceptive TV coverage should also help encourage others to grow, thinking they can easily produce 3.2 million.
I dunno, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Any TV show or movie is gonna stretch the details to make things more fantastic. Their job is to make it more interesting and get more viewers, NOT present the facts accurately like they are a PBS documentary.
All I can say is that I'm glad no one has seen a James Bond flick, or we might be overrun with super-villians bent on global domination.
in the mean time, enjoy weeds for what it is...entertainment.

just as a comment on the factual accuracy of the show... it seemed like the first season - especially the scene from good shit lollipop or ep 103 was quite accurate with pricing and some strains and offerings of clubs... i mean come on it was craig x. but then when they got into showing quantity and talking of mass value as you were referring to earlier it really made me question where they got their ideas from on that one. 30 pounds of indoor looked like maybe 4 pounds of outdoor in the kids trunk. yeah, and wtf was that 300,000 for 30 lb's crap. i remember the character saying we could get 500,000 for holding out. who the hell is paying upwards of 10 g's for an elbow. anyway yeah it is just a show but i do agree, creators/writers/producers not being as responsible as they should be.

Instead, the writers, have made us out to be stupid, real stupid, air heads who have magical money tree factories in our homes. And they have bad ethics. This show is for the masses, and it hurts us, as a culture.

I got showtime, so I could watch this last season. After a few shows, I went into my cable provider and cancelled showtime. I will not pay money for this stupid trash show.

actually the show does illustrate how people of all classes use marijuana. The one guy was on the city council. Chill the fu ck out. I certainly is better than a lot of what is shown on tv regarding marijuana.

FICTION!!!! its fiction people, and is done in the mold of soapoperas. high drama, unrealisitic plot lines/time lines, etc. etc. You guys expect the writers to be writing a story about you sitting in your basement all day trying to get rid of spidermites?? what kinda show would that be?? A shitty boring one is what it would be. This show is designed to entertain first and foremost. It is not showtime's or Weeds writers (etc) duty to campaign for the legalization of cannabis. That duty, is the duty of REAL people, and REAL growers. Not some fictional growers or some writer who is simply trying to make some money, entertain some people and maybe, jsut maybe be able to atleast provide a small glimpse into a lifestyle that is not well known to a majority of people. Seriously, its FICTION people!!! And if you think that Weeds is making you all out to look stupid or evil? then you truly must be stupid. If somebody is stupid enough to judge you off of some fictional tv show, do you really care what that person thinks about you? Seriously think about it.

I honestly don't mind people who think they can make 300k in 2 bedrooms, they might try, screw up, try it some more, screw it up worse, and come back to me realizing that growing is not easy but it is easy if you know what you're doing. Most people believe they can order seeds, drop them, flower them out and make a million. All I have to say is try it. Spend $3000 at your local hydro store for all the hardware nec. and try. If it works (whick I seriously doubt) continue, if it doesn't the hydro store will have a great sale next week on some returned items for half off... I have seen it a hundred times...

I really enjoyed the first season and thought they had an honest, entertaining and fun show. It was more of a sitcom than an action deal. Its almos like they ran out of content or just realized FUD would bring in more viewers?

I still give them major props for the monologue on masturbation from the uncle, monologue on iraq war from uncle, and the overgrow the government bumper sticker in the background on the fridge. Also the uncle being in the military this season looks like it might have some potential for some good content.

I do tend to agree that how they are portraying our cultue has taken a turn for the worse, but who is to say that it wont turn back around, or that they even have some responsibility to the culture? Yeah they might have exploited "us" for their tv show but it was there for the taking...

IT still has some laughs, a good soundtrack and above par acting. better than most shite on the tele.

i don't get what you mean. do you think thieves will scope out hydro stores waiting for someone to buy a whole bunch of stuff so they can follow them home? imo, robbing a grower is not like robbing a place with ready to go medicine. what is a thief going to do with plants 35 days into flowering? it robbing a grower would be more of an inside job because of the knowledge of time of harvest that the thief possess. i think most robberies are done like this - "the medicine is in that house, lets go get it"; not - "we'll rob him in 18 days when we know he's planning to harvest".

tell me what to look for so i can know what to look for too. black men? white men? single men? women? women with children? what exactly is the characteristics of a grower? single white mom in suburbia that hangs out with negroes? do they drive expensive cars?

i think you took it to heart when you shouldn't have. lighten up.

i've always felt this show is total bullshit crap...i stopped watching it after one of the first episodes when they had some pedophile in a hot tub with a kid and this dumb bitch who thinks she can sling doesn't tell anybody about it but instead used it as blackmail...also the fact they are showing some single mom who is slinging and acting like its some sort of viable, acceptable thing within our community when they show her with all this clientele...

it pisses me off, it really does...people that don't know shit about pot or our culture watch this shit and think they're getting the 'lowdown' when in reality it is NOT helping the cause, if anything it hurts it IMO...besides the fact i don't believe in children being involved in pot shiznit i also wouldn't buy any of the bullshit fake weed they showed in the episodes i watched, and i wouldn't buy any drug from some soccer mom who wears a friggin beeper (who even owns a beeper anymore?)...there are just so many bullshit things about that show i could go on forever...

I tried to watch the Weeds once, and it was so boring and mindless that I changed the channel and decided I'd never watch it again... It was so ridiculous watching that stupid white woman prattle on and on incomprehensiby while 'learning' how to sell drugs from her black source, who's always cooking soul food...

Personally, I hope she gets busted for dealing and spends the rest of the show's length in TV prison...

By the way, I'm not pissed at the show or angry about what it says or whatever, I just don't have the desire to erode my brain's functions any further...

I've seen the first 4 episodes of the 3rd season and if the 5th doesn't fix alot real fast i'm done with this show. There have been about 5 direct references to the various "thugs" wanting to rape nancy. Not cool.

I'm not a violent person but a woman should stand up for her self and i predict the show will have more violence more akin to scarface then going to your friend to pick up a ounce on payday like most pot heads do.

i will say this also, i grew up in the south and some paranoid small time dealers would get jumpy talk about guns they had and one even showed me one he had hidden in the sofa. Some people just don't know how to act like adults. The show does perpetuate violence into a culture that doesn't really have much or need any. Most people who just smoke are the most non violent people on the planet, jsut takes a few bad one to mess everything up.
