Bonnaroo 2008 anyone?

Now I'm not claiming to be a festival goer, in fact the only actual festival i go to is Bonnaroo, during the course of the year i'll check out a few shows here and there but by no means am i going out to see a show every week. Anyway my first Bonnaroo experience was the 2006 festival when Radiohead and Tom Petty were the headliners (excellent festival that year i may add) i was sooooo disappointed last year with Tool and the Police. This year i find myself upset with Bonnaroo but at the same time i see a lot more people i'd like to see this year then in my previous 2 years. The main reason is Metallica... how in any way, shape, or form does Metallica fit into the Bonnaroo atmosphere... this is the same band that sued napster. They're basically the anti-bonnaroo band i would have to say. Now i know all the bands are paid to be there, but what ever happened to that certain sound of Bonnaroo, i dont think the original creators of Bonnaroo ever intended on having a band like Metallica play... not even because of the type of music they play (however i also feel they do not fit in) but because of their ideals and mindset. I dont know i, i guess thats what happened when MTV buys a popular festival, and I'm sure it will continue to be popular... but it wont have the same vibe and since of community that the festival once had... and I'm sure i missed out on even more in the earlier years. I would ask that everyone who is going to Bonnaroo band together and lets try and get Metallica off the ballot, i must say I'm also disappointed with seeing Kanye West in the line-up as well, but not as upset as when i heard Metallica was a headliner.... anyway here are the bands I'm looking forward to seeing.

Pearl Jam
Jack Johnson
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss featuring T-Bone Burnett
My Morning Jacket
The Allman Brothers Band
The Raconteurs
Willie Nelson
Death Cab for Cutie
B.B. King
Sigur Ros
M.I.A.
Iron & Wine
Yonder Mountain String Band
Talib Kweli
Rilo Kiley
Lupe Fiasco
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings
Tegan & Sara
Ladytron
Jose Gonzalez
Minus the Bear
Battles
Vampire Weekend
Black Kids

Still waiting for more updates and there are a few other bands listed i'd like to see. Tell me what you think about this years festival, likes, dislikes, artists your pumped to see, ect.

Peace:canabis:

it will be hot...as in 100+ degrees :)

I heard alot of speculation about led zeppelin doing a show at the roo...but the rumor was that robert plant and allison kraus's tour would conflict. It looks like the conflict was resolved because ole rob and allison are on the bill.

If zep is going to be there...they aren't going to tell us until the show is sold out. They were turning people away last year with police and tool. Imagine if it was zeppelin. :) They would be sold out within hours.

See you at the roo...

Wow, I think I actually liked last years line-up better. Doubt I'll be going to this one. The only complaints I've heard about Bonnaroo are the heat and the crowds of people. My friend brought back some pretty killer bud from the '07 show and I must say it was great.

There are massive crowds and its hot as fuck but it's also a lot of fun, its nice to be out camping with everyone, and for the most part people are super nice and laid back... i think it's changing though. Last year we had a guy come up to us selling strait up rocks of kief, it was very enjoyable.

Sneakinman i wanted to go to vegoose! it looked like a sick line up, how was the weather?

I actually like this years line up with the exception of Metallica and Kanye West, I guess i just wont be going to those shows thats all, i'll chill out and smoke some bomb weed while Metallica plays, i'll snag a nice spot at one of the other late night shows.

Heard on the radio that it was Lez Zeppelin... Thats right a lesbian zeppelin
tribute band . Metallica should just go away and play Indian casinos .

yes lez zeppelin is playing but there's the possibility that Led Zeppelin might play seeing as Robert Plant will already be there and john paul jones was there last year... anything is possible, we can have hope can't we? and i agree Metallica should just disappear from that line up

lol at led zeppelin playing bonnaroo. i'll bet whatever 3:1 they don't play that. they're gearing up for a world wide tour. bonnaroo sucks now. not a fan anymore. too hot, too wet, too many people, ect.

better festivals out there smaller, and more efficient.

Sorry the dates for this year are June 12th - 15th, i think i posted something else...

Hey dbuzz 3:1 thats it??? if you really think they aren't going to play why would it only be 3:1 why not 500:1. regardless Plant will be there so there's always the possibility. maybe we'll be able to see something special for super jam. No ones saying there arent better festivals, Bonnaroo just has a mass amount of bands i want to see and i personally like the atmosphere that surrounds the festival, everyone gets along and it's a good time. I'd really like to go to Coachella, but thats a ridiculous trip for me.
