Now I'm not claiming to be a festival goer, in fact the only actual festival i go to is Bonnaroo, during the course of the year i'll check out a few shows here and there but by no means am i going out to see a show every week. Anyway my first Bonnaroo experience was the 2006 festival when Radiohead and Tom Petty were the headliners (excellent festival that year i may add) i was sooooo disappointed last year with Tool and the Police. This year i find myself upset with Bonnaroo but at the same time i see a lot more people i'd like to see this year then in my previous 2 years. The main reason is Metallica... how in any way, shape, or form does Metallica fit into the Bonnaroo atmosphere... this is the same band that sued napster. They're basically the anti-bonnaroo band i would have to say. Now i know all the bands are paid to be there, but what ever happened to that certain sound of Bonnaroo, i dont think the original creators of Bonnaroo ever intended on having a band like Metallica play... not even because of the type of music they play (however i also feel they do not fit in) but because of their ideals and mindset. I dont know i, i guess thats what happened when MTV buys a popular festival, and I'm sure it will continue to be popular... but it wont have the same vibe and since of community that the festival once had... and I'm sure i missed out on even more in the earlier years. I would ask that everyone who is going to Bonnaroo band together and lets try and get Metallica off the ballot, i must say I'm also disappointed with seeing Kanye West in the line-up as well, but not as upset as when i heard Metallica was a headliner.... anyway here are the bands I'm looking forward to seeing.
