Music that changed the world.

Music that changed the world.

hey now, first heard the music of Bob Nesta Marley on my first Jamiacan visit.
Just background music from little record shacks. On later trips it played on the Air Jamaican flights. I got him see him perform 4 times. Last at the Mosque in Detroit, Mich. The image of his stage backdrop, of Sellassie, Marcus Garvey, topped with the star of David, right underneath the star & cresant moon that was above the stage are burned in my consiousness. He was taken from this earth much too soon. He did so much in his short life. Though is words& music he lives! Hail Jah Rastafari, King of Kings, thanks for the life of babba Marley.
Though his children his seed lives too! :joint:

Music's great, but he treated his wife like shit. Usually the best ruler to measure a man by. So I love the music, but I don't idolize him with this personality cult shiet.

As far as his seed... Ziggy sucks! But Stephen and Damian are awesome.

Ziggy is so bland and uninnovative and boring and just... lazy. Had his father's name to artificially boost his career, so never had that creative breakthrough, just makes mediocre records sounding like a watered down version of his dad. Stephen and Damian, though, they seem to have that original artistic fire their old man had.

Rita just had low self-esteem to accept less than she deserved. We see it everyday, just cuz Bob did it doesn't make it any different. It's about respecting the mother of your chilluns, not being a slave to temptation. It doesn't take away from the message, but it tarnishes the man. Put the message on a pedestal, not the messenger. That's all I'm saying.

Robert Nesta Marley (1945-1981) was one of the most amazing human beings who ever lived. He was and remains a hero to people across the world being oppressed.

"The first thing you must know about me is that I always stand for what I stand for. Good? The second thing you must know about yourself listening to me is that words are tricky. So when you know what me a stand for, when me explain a thing to you, you must never try to look 'pon it in a different way from what me a stand for."

"People want to listen to a message, word from Jah. This could be passed through me or anybody. I am not a leader... The word of the songs, not the person, is what attracts people."

“Me love everyone. But what me don’t love is them people fight against me. Me don’t love them.”

“Plenty people are just pure hypocrite.”

“See, you can’t love my music if you love reality.”

“Music… is a godly thing, you know.”

Quotes by Bob Marley
