Hey'ya bro,

You should check out Shashamane, Ethiopia. They have a HUGE festival for Marley's B'day. Shashamane is a land given to Rastafaris by Emperor Halle Selassie of Ethiopia. Great mj scene out there too. What better a time to visit than in Marley's B'day!

All the compatriots living in the African continent should surely pay this place a visit, especially in Marley's b'day!!! And of greater significance is that there was even talk of shifting Marley's remains from Jamaica to Shashamane. SURELY a place worth checking out!

shashamane is nowdays a mere pale shadow of what it was supposed to be though, nowdays, the territory donated by selassie i to rastas all over the world has been stolen by today's ethiopian establishment. so rastas have no legal rights over the land anymore. they have kept like 1% of the original territory donated by the king, and that is 'shashamane' nowdays.

i went to a couple bob marley festivals in miami a long time ago. since it was in miami, tons of shitty bands played. the only things worth mentioning were ziggy marley and laureen hill, and ziggy was only good because he only played stuff by marley and the wailers. the whole fest had a mercantilist vibe.
you not only had to buy a ticket to get in, but take canned food to donate. they won't allow you to enter with drinks or food. and once you are in, a bottle of water goes for 5 american dollars, and a piece of food for 10 bucks. fuck them phoney ass festivals.

peace.
