Bob Knight quits

Bobby was never a great coach, but was probably one of the very best teachers of the game. He always beat you with basics. I graduated from IU, the year he started(1971) and spent the next 30 years following IU ball. He retires with the most wins in NCAA history. Bob could be one of the nicest guys around or the biggest asshole. Always depended on his mood. One season, I had tickets right behind the bench. You sure wouldn't want to take your mother there, unless she was used to foul language.

Bobby Knight was a great coach but it seems odd that he would leave mid-season. I know he wanted to go out on a high note but he really should have waited 10-12 more games before he retired. Anyhow, I think his son will be a fine replacement for him and hopefully carry on his legacy.

Myers said Knight, 67, spent Sunday contemplating resignation. Myers said Knight called him Monday morning to set up a meeting. In a one-hour meeting, Knight told Myers he wanted to retire immediately. Health concerns were not a reason for the resignation, Myers said.

I don't know how much stock I would put in Myers statement--he only knows what bobby wanted him to know--health being a private thing--and bobby being a public figure. Quitting for his own sake in the middle of the season is really selfish/disrespectful to the players who signed with him. Something has to be up.

Damn....who else is going to throw chairs on the court? Or whos going to grab them skinny ball players by their necks?

He will be missed. :joint:
