Blumat auto watering

K

Kelly.

my local shop just had the drippers available, so i had to piece everything else together.

its alittle more work, but i like it better because i keep my money local, and because i "built" everything, i know exactly how it all works :)

Just wondering because I figured the kits would come with everything you needed to hook up to the res

Dub...While I haven't hooked anything up yet, I opened the box to check everything out. LOOKS like everything is there that you need...with the exception of a shut off valve. Don't know if it's needed, but I would prefer one and will be installing one on my system just to make an easy shutoff for maintenance.

So it comes with all you need for a BASIC setup. Anything past that (valves, Sunny's "loop" method mentioned earlier, etc...)and you're on your own...way to home de pot.

Woot. My two patio sets came today in the mail. I can't wait to get them set up and running tonight. It'll be a burden off my back to not have to water every two days.

sunny how long is the supply tube that comes with the patio kits? I want to make the "loop" like you suggested but I was planning on using 1 kit per 4x8 area but wasnt sure if the tube would be long enough to make that big of a loop

Actually, I have used several of them.
I just don't remember how long the tubing is. It has been some time since I bought any new stuff.
I just get the 100m roll, and those little rolls go into the "extra stuff" box.
Sorry if I came off bad or something, I certainly did not intend to.:tiphat:

The supply tube says 7m on tropfs website.

I have to say though, I was pretty mad when I got mine. Half the caps on the blumats were cracked. When I opened the boxes the blumats were flung everywhere. Apparently they dont insert in anything into the box to keep them stable aside from a little thing you stick the cermamic cones into, but nothing above it to hold them in place.

Still usable, except for one whose cap is mostly shot. I used zip ties on another to tighten it up. Ive emailed the manufacturer since they have a guarantee, but they want people to mail them the stuff back first. Shit If Im gonna ship all these blumats to Austria.

Hopefully they email me back today with a solution.

That really sucks :badday:
Are the caps cracked so they will no longer tighten?

That is weird, mine had a u shaped piece of cardboard on top with two instruction booklets in it. The cardboard held the blumats in place.

Mine also had the U shaped piece of cardboard, and another piece of cardboard with holes cut out that the blumats sat in perfectly.

For the question up above, I made my loop, and still have plenty of tubing left. If I remember correctly it is 10meters long.

Well the caps are like two pieces. I can easily tighten the 'inside' cap. Its not damaged. The outer cap that has the turning valve at the top is whats cracked up the side.

Ill still be able to use them all I think. I just need to be extra careful with handling them.

With regards to others mentioning the U shaped cardboard. I had what looks like an L shaped piece of cardboard that was at the top of the box, but it hardly did any job in keeping the blumats secure.

Just my luck.

Here are some pics of the problems. Ive contacted the shop I bought them from too. Hopefully I can get some replacements as this is straight up bullshit.

In my opinion that looks like a faulty manufacture since half of them are cracked in a similar way. Shouldn't be a problem to get a replacement but still sucks because you can't use them in the meantime :)

I was not happy with the packaging from the German site. Paid top dollar (euro) for shipping and the kit wasn't protectively packaged at all. The shipping box was crushed.

My blumats were all over inside the kit box but I don't see any real damage. I didn't see any cracked plastic, anyway. I was worried about cracked ceramic cones--I see some slight surface flaws but it looks like they occured during manufacture.

They may be careless when assembling the kit at the factory. About four of my screw-tops were just laying loose in the box. I don't know how the shipping trauma could have popped them off the threads without damage.

Oh, I am using them. Everything is set up, and working. Now I just need to tweak it over the next few days to make sure all is well.

I haven't heard from the Austrians about the problem, nor has phoenix organics wrote me back.

There actually was the U shaped cardboard inside. It just looked like an L when It came out of the box. Its a pretty shitty way to protect the cones either way.

You'd think with ceramics they'd try and protect them better.

Mmmmh, I agree on the shitty packaging, but the cracked spots are all at the same position as far as i can tell by the closeup picture. Normally they are pretty solid. I ordered the even cheaper version without the regular packaging, just the blumats in a plastic bag, and they were in perfect condition. My package didn't travel overseas of course...
Take pictures showing the whole desaster (with all damaged ones on one picture and in detail), write a complaint directly to the manufacturer and tell them you want new caps.
Maybe they even give you some compensation for your efforts.

Greetings,
Garuda.

Im stoked. I got a reply Roland Weninger from Blumat. He is going to send me 24 new blumats. He said there was a problem with the production run from 10 years ago, and that they recalled those. Are mine from ten years ago? I have no clue, but Im glad he's going to replace the damaged ones.
