I have a 2007 blulab combo meter I paid $50 for 3 years ago
and i picked up a new spare ph pen for $20.
the ppm/ec probe went dead last summer so ive been expecting the
Ph pen/meter to follow sometime soon.
in the last few weeks I've gotten a few readings that I know were off, but then get right trying it again?
cleaned the pen so its not dirty.
today the erroneous readings stayed way off, i got the spare and the same thing.. crap I figure the pens are both off big time so they must be ok so it has to be the electronics inside the unit and its time to get a new one.
i like to tinker with stuff so i decided to check out the connector on the pen.
pulled off the blue sleeve and unscrewed the threaded part the wire is in and the center of coax cable is broken and the outer metal mesh is the same. stripped it down put it together and its working great.
so i check out the spare ph pen and the the threaded nut that holds the coax isn't threaded on the connector anymore and just falls loose
screw it back in and its online again as well
so if ya gots a blulab combo style ph pen and you start getting reading that are way off or it gets stuck at a certain point,
check out the connector and maybe save 50-75 tamales
here's a pic
