Bluelab PH probe been dry for 2 years, is it still OK?

Hi All

Trying get back into a grow after a few years.

I have a Bluelab Combo meter and can give away my cheap Chinese portable one.

I have give it a clean and calibrated it with PH7 and PH4 solutions but still not sure if it's ok, been googling and it seems a myth that they dry out?

What i'm confused by is the liquid levels inside the probe, does this look correct?

I'm thinking of ordering a Bluelab pen to check it for now or will a cheap Chinese one do?

It look like onw 'wire'on the left is not in the solution inside the probe? Should it be full?

Any advice welcome.

Pics attached.

Cheers

Get some calibrating solutions and try it out before buying another one to see if it works properly. :tiphat:

... as a verification tool, I believe any good PH probe would be good enough for comparative purposes.

Just buy the replacement pH probe Fir 65 bucks as it’s shot. You might get it to calibrate but will be inaccurate and never hold true or you’ll just get an error code when trying to calibrate. The replacement just screws right in to the top. Easy peasy and fir 65 bucks better than a cheap pen.

Amazon gots the replacement probe in stock and order in next couple hours get tomorrow if Prime. $63.85. At least where I’m at. That’s def the best bet. Over past 10 years I’ve had to buy 2 of em.

Valid point! BlueLab is a mfr, we are consumers.

OTOH, if the cheapo and the rejuvenated probe tracks throughout the range, you have a cheap comparator. So you spent $10-15 bucks to find out, saved $50 in the process. Should that experiment fail, you have a spare for next time.
