I have put bloodmeal in water but it did not reconstitute. The water did indeed turn a redish color, but the bulk of the material sat at teh bottom- I left it for month and no change.
So, I am of the opinion that it may not be quickly available as a tea.
However in a soil with micrboes to break it down-would that extend to the microkiddies in a good ewc/compost/ tea? Is there sufficiant time and microbe poplution to accomplist this?
I've heard that you don't want to use blood meal in teas, but I forget why. You'll have much better luck using fish emulsion or Mexican bat guano, IMO.
I have just started a little compost heap and I have been throwing every banana I can get my hands on it it, but if bloodmeal will jack up the N then thats sounds like the ticket to me!
But I would hate to burn anything. Im still very much a newbie at this.
Hey KNAzI, bananas are mainly K. Did you check the last pages at the OFC? We have reposted a list of NPK values for most house products (fruits, veggies, etc), which will be useful to you if you're making your own compost.
Also don't forget to tear the bananas (or anything you put into your compost pile) into pieces (as small as possible) to help and speed up decomposition.
Here is the link to page 15 of the OFC, where minds_I posted the values.
This is the original thread, on a gardening forum.
~Gets down and bows to Relik~ OMG thanks man..you have no ideal how much thats helps out..well..you probally do lol. Thanks a MILLION man, wow im gonna be sure to give Minds~I a good thanking as well. Sharing the INFO..HELL YEA! lol
Well you own piss would make a fine source of N, just drink alot of water and use sparingly until they green up.
Some think this is gross but in a jam it works and it it works very well.
Bat guano would have been my first call, it has a great high release value.
