Blood donation

So, I'm trying to do blood donations a few times a year to ease my livin' cause I've got some thick blood... and I'm thinking how long would be safe to wait if I have smoked about ½ gram every second night and not eaten any. Is about a week enough? It depends of course of the person, but the facts on the internet are all so conflicting so I'm asking here.

yeah a week should be good.

its actually not a good idea to consistenly drain yourself of blood, renew it then drain it again.. it can lead to blood pressure problems.

good to donate blood though. my dad used to tell me it was pointless cause i could go to donate as much blood as i wanted, but if i ever went to a hospital and asked for free blood if i needed it they'd kick me out unless i had wads of cash or insurance.

still, it's helpin someone out in some way.

??? .. why would you need to wait for anything? .. they dont test donated blood for drugs.

If it was drug tested it would be listed on that page. What would be the point of keeping that secret there? If there were an issue with trace amounts of a drug in blood they would test it. The reason they turn away IV drug users is because of the risk involved with the hiv positive 'window' where they are hiv positive and the tests show negative because they have been recently infected.

I don't see why they wouldn't test it. Why would they give THC to a person at risk of heart attack, or coke, etc etc..Weird that they don't list it

Here's my take after some 'net surfing: Donated blood is not tested for drugs because the end products that are delivered to patients are divided into separate blood components:

Packed red blood cells: these are the oxygen carrying cells required for cellular metabolism/oxygenation. (Kreb cycle)

Platlets: assist in forming clots in the coagulation cascade

Albumin: just like chicken eggs, this is primarily protein which is used for cellular metabolism but is used in tranfusion for increasing blood volume.

White blood cells: cells for incapacitating foreign 'invaders', bacteria, viruses, etc. Transfused for people who are immunological comprimised (cancer, chemotherapy, etc)

Nobody gets 'whole blood' transfusions anymore...

From what I can tell... most drug metabolites (including alchohol, caffeine, cocaine, marijuana) are detected in the serum portion of blood which is mostly water, a few proteins, and other 'stuff'. Evidently the serum portion of is removed used a centrifuge and then discarded or further 'spun down' to get at the other 'stuff'.

I donate blood every month or so. Never been clean for it and they've never cared. Every 2 weeks I still get the blood bank people calling my phone asking when I can come again.

First of all I forgot to mention that I'm from Finland, but I still don't know does that make a difference. I've just heard from local puffers that I should wait a few days just to be sure. I'm probably worrying for nothing. Even if they found THC from there, they don't have a legal way to share this info to the police.

blood donation should be mandantory

blood donation should be mandantory

for healthy people of course.....

I don't beleive it will fix your blood problem tho,, I've donated lots of times and havve never been asked about smoking, but they always ask to see my arms..they will also ask about recent tatoos and piercings. they will also ask if you been in jail for 72 hours or if you've been out of the country, and which one, will also adk about certain medications..

You guys can also consider donating your plasma. Takes a little longer but is also for a good cause.

I just catched myself forgetting about the donation and having a bongful. :biglaugh:

Anyway yeah, I'm going one of these days. I don't know if it'll solve my high hemoglobin but I felt better a while after my last donation. I'm not that bad these days tho...

about the testing.. from personal experience im pretty sure they test it.. why wouldn't they. you think they want pcp in a blood sample going into an 80 year old woman?

the first time i gave blood, i was pretty much clean and a few months or so after donating, i recieved a card showing my blood type, cholesterol.. blah blah..

the second time.. i had a little somethin somethin in my blood (not weed) and never recieved a card.. they probably threw my blood out.

Ha, I ain't giving no blood, the real reason for blood donation is that it is technically human sacrafice. Do you know where your blood is REALLY going? Thats right Vampires, also bloodshed is needed for these people in power.
