Blockhead in Coco

I'm feeling good about it. I've taken enough pics so that I'll be able to tell how the plant responds pretty quickly by comparing photos. Even if it doesn't help, I can flush it as soon as I see what happens. Thanks to Crazy Composer for the help in diagnosing the plant.

Keeping good records and photos make a huge difference in the quality of a grow. This is my first run with Blockhead so I'm adjusting as I go. I plan to use this grow diary as a reference, and once it's done compress it into a few notes to keep about the strain, to help me better grow it next time. It's even helping me on my first grow, as I can see in pictures what my plant does from day to day, along with what I did to them. Thanks for the help everyone!

good luck with your blockhead.

i can also confirm that the blockhead that i have done in the past had almost no stretch when put into flower.

also keep humidity down in late flower.

liquid069 - You might want to PM yts farmer, you'll probably get a quicker response.

I think I've solved any issues. Not sure if it was a nitrogen deficiency or some under watering, but things are looking great. They're going to get their first 12 hour night starting tonight. That puts a harvest between... Nov 12th and Nov 19th, depending when I want to harvest.

I've heard between 63 and 70 days. I don't want it too stony so I'm not sure if I should go the full 70 days, but I don't want to miss out on anything. Might have to harvest all 3 plants at different times, but we'll see how things go. I'm not positive which pheno I've got, but we'll see shortly.

I've been up for some weird hours in the past few days, I happened to be up just before the lights came on this morning so I got some pictures.

When people asked me what my favorite color was I was never sure. Since I've started growing, the answer is easy. Green.

Sorry I've been boring everyone with all these veg shots, now that flower is starting there should be some good stuff coming soon. Thanks again for checking out my grow!

Here we go, got some better shots of the full cabinet and the canopy.

peterpan - Got any tips? When did you cut yours? Anything that stuck out about your pheno? I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the strain so I'm ready for whatever it wants. I'd be ecstatic if mine came out looking anything like yours. Maybe not quite as bulky, but the 150w can only do so much! :violin:

Yeah, I want to see what the stretch does to them though. The first trimming ended with a pretty big pile of leaves, but you can barely notice now. Thanks for the input though. When would you do it? Now, after they've stretched a bit and I see where things are going, or after they're done stretching? (Very little stretch expected with this strain)

Should I trim down to 4 or 5 main shoots on each plant? The latest top down pic gives a pretty good idea of where the tops are.

I usually do my major trimming a few days before, and a minor (or semi-major) at around week 1 - 2 as necessary.

I do hardly any trimming. Popcorn buds and such go into hashmaking, together with flower cluster leaves. Just my way of doing things.

I love this grow! In a few weeks you'll be looking at this Bounty,

There were a couple sideshoots from the main stem that were all twisted from being pushed against the wall, I cut all of them off and tried to open up the middle of the canopy to more light. There was just a couple fan leaves blocking at least 6+ new growth sites, all of which I'm sure will take off now that they're not in the shadows. I pinched the two main tops of the single plant, everything looks even for the most part on the two plants in one bucket. heh... two girls one bucket :fsu:

Here's a bunch of before and afters... I'll definitely wait until the stretch is well underway before I do anymore trimming, I think I'll have a good amount of budsites for my space, and shouldn't have too much popcorn to deal with.

(I should've cut that one on the bottom right... I'll have to get that next time I'm in there. The gf is sleeping, I don't want to be hauling the plants in and out of the bedroom.)

I probably got about 6 cuts I want to clone, I'm going to rig up a ghetto passive wick vermiculite cloner. Feeling motivated today! :muahaha:

Rosy Cheeks - Thanks again for watching my grow, it's good to know I've got someone with first hand experience keeping an eye on me.

I was told by fj that Blockhead's flavor really comes out with a long flush. I think what I want to do is have a staggered harvest between all 3 plants.

The single plant - Feed for 7 weeks, flush 2, cut at 9
The two plants in a single container - Feed 7 weeks, flush until done... cut one at 9.5 weeks, and cut the other at 10 weeks.

That way, I'll end up with...

2 week flushed 9 week Blockhead
2.5 week flushed 9.5 week Blockhead
3 week flushed 10 week Blockhead

Between the long flush and the final feeding of PBP, I'm hoping for some real good flavor and odor. I think that's about all I'm going to get done today, if I get the cloner put together I might post some pics of that, but no more updates of substance for a few days. I have decided to give them a few more days, once I see some new growth from where they are now I'll flip, just give them a bit to recoup after the trimming and pinching.

You don't need a supervisor Bounty, you're working with less wattage than me, that's all. Your skills are just as good if even better.
I do know something about the Blockhead though, I can help you out there.

I keep three BH phenos, and my #1 favorite stay pretty average throughout the grow, but in the last two weeks she explodes and put on maybe 25%-30% bud weight.
That is, if you feed her. It won't happen with a 3 week flush. So I run her with General Hydroponics Europe's Ripen (NPK 0-6-5) in the last ten days up until the very end (about 65 days), and give her a couple of days of clear water only to finish her off. Works like a charm, great taste with a proper cure. Adds 30% to the bud jars.

That's some great info, thanks Rosy! So maybe I'll modify that plan a little...

Extend the 9ml KoolBloom feeding phase in single plant bucket until 9 weeks and then flush 2 days

Grow with planned schedule in the 2 plant bucket, harvest one with a 1 week flush and one with a 2 week flush, at 9 and 10 weeks. That way I'll have a pretty good idea of how this pheno reacts to feeding late in flower vs a regular flush.

I still have the feeling of being new here, even though I've been a member over 2 years. I wasn't really satisfied with my previous harvests, but this grow so far has restored my confidence in my growing ability. I'm still learning, and I'll be learning until I can have a room large enough to do everything I want to try. Until then, I just hope I can help other growers, because it was well documented grows like this that inspired me to finally get my own grow underway. Keep it simple, show how it's done, and people will see it's not that hard.

Thanks for stopping by Kinderfield, I'm very happy with how healthy the plants are looking. I've been pretty patient so far but now I'm getting anxious, I really want to see what kind of bud I can pull out of this little cab of mine.

Bounty you are doing just fine. I'm not the one to take advice from because i believe less is more. My bh came from seed as a freebie. I grow in promix or anything thing like it that comes in a bail and has very few additives. I add in a little bone meal blood meal meal bat shit and a little organic dry fert, very little. If I do fert during flower I use canna the organic vegan stuff. And i flush way longer than you need to, I'm sure it cuts the yield but I dont care, I want clean weed. So my bh has very little done to it, I'm sure your results will be much better than mine. peace

That's where mine are from. :fsu:

It's been a long journey up to this point. :jump:

Oh yeah and now that I've got a system that I know works, it allows me more leeway to try other things. I can't wait to mix up and organic coco mix and only have to feed a few times throughout the plants life. That's my next project. :sasmokin:

I think I can use this current method and recipe for normal growing, but what's wrong with having a nice easy organic method to go alongside it, to give you some real home grown quality smoke. I want to get a coco mix brewing, need to figure out what to put in! :bashhead:

Not much different but... LIGHTS OFF!

I'll be watering them tomorrow morning, and probably trimming some more in a week or so depending on how they react to 12/12. Let's get this show on the road! :jump:

This is by far the best my canopy has looked going into flower, I'm going to shoot for a yield of 2oz total. We'll see how things go :joint:

Sept 14 - Flower Begins
Nov 16 - Harvest 1st plant, 1 week flush
Nov 18 - Harvest 2nd plant, 2 day flush
Nov 23 - Harvest 3rd plant, 2 week flush

Looks good, goodluck. If you don't mind me asking how did you come about this strain? I saw you posting in the med forum so I was curious if you obtained it from a club. I really want to try this strain.

Nah I got this from a pack of freebies from an order about a year ago. I got 5 seeds, people seemed to have hit or miss germination rates with them so I was a little worried. I only had one germ, and it took forever to grow, I think the root system was real slow to develop. It turned out to be female, and we'll see how it turns out, I'm pretty pleased with it.

I've decided I'll update and take pictures each time I water/feed the girls. Either tonight or tomorrow morning. Not much change in the first few days of 12/12, they're definitely putting out more odor though.

I'm on the other side of the country from the med clubs, hopefully I'll be moving out there in the next few years though.
