A bud at the end of a low branch on one of my outdoor plants has developed a bit of grey mold, about the size of a half-dollar. This branch is in the path of a sprinkler and gets little sun, so that's how that happened. I have propped the branch up so it'll get full sun today but I think that's a day late, dollar short.
This happens to be the one branch I pollinated on this plant, and it is growing seeds, so I don't want to just trash the whole branch. I also don't want moldy bud in my drying room throwing spores everywhere. And I don't really want to spray fungicide on my bud, because avoiding that kind of thing is the whole reason I decided to grow my own in the first place.
I have a propane torch I can adjust down to a needle flame and have been considering just sterilizing the moldy area that way. Anyone ever try this and have advice, or would suggest a different path?
