Bit of mold - options?

A bud at the end of a low branch on one of my outdoor plants has developed a bit of grey mold, about the size of a half-dollar. This branch is in the path of a sprinkler and gets little sun, so that's how that happened. I have propped the branch up so it'll get full sun today but I think that's a day late, dollar short.

This happens to be the one branch I pollinated on this plant, and it is growing seeds, so I don't want to just trash the whole branch. I also don't want moldy bud in my drying room throwing spores everywhere. And I don't really want to spray fungicide on my bud, because avoiding that kind of thing is the whole reason I decided to grow my own in the first place.

I have a propane torch I can adjust down to a needle flame and have been considering just sterilizing the moldy area that way. Anyone ever try this and have advice, or would suggest a different path?

Try to pick the moldy parts off the bud to start. Remove as much of it as you can do. Leave the branch propped up and do your best to keep it dry from this point forward. Don't touch the plant anywhere else or any other plant till you have washed your hands very well to avoid spreading to other areas of the plant.

Well, I plucked out the moldy area - gloves - then sterilized it with the torch. Terrible shame, wisps of smoke rose up from the undamaged edges; tried not to let them go to waste.

About 20 seeds in the moldy area, but I tossed 'em; who wants moldy seeds? Hopefully this won't spread. Will report back.

The flame treatment arrested the mold, but the torch killed the stem, and everything downstream of there started drying, so I harvested that bit and have set it to dry. Some seeds in it, not sure if they're mature. Mold didn't spread to the rest of the plant so that's a plus.

Harveted the rest of the plant as it was ready.
