BioDegradable PEAT POTS

T

The_Core

Hey I want to start seedlings in peat pots, Whats everyones thoughts on this? I have used them for regular vegetable plants and they worked amazing. Let me know what you think! Has anyone had any bad experiences with these pots?

The pots work fine. I usually ended up pealing the pots off when I transplanted any way. But then I just started using beer cups due to the cost factor.

You will have to peel the peat pot off before you transplant. They say you can just put the new pot into the soil of a bigger pot, but I've found that the roots don't really break through the old pot if you do that. I just get plastic pots so I can reuse them for years.

they suck and offer no advantage over a soil mix/container to start. there is little transplant shock if done right from solid container. to get those peat pots to work even moderately well . your gonna need to tear off bottom and in the process hurt the roots slightly. i just slide my plant out of cups/pots whatever without barely disturbing roots at all and plant. i played around alot when i had a farm and greenhouses. peat pucks and pots were found to be a waste of money and offer no benefits.
