Hi Folks,
Just reading a fascinating article about the ongoing research into 'Biochar' - also known as 'Terra Preta' or 'Dark Earth'.
Its a method of fertilisation carried out along the Amazon river for over two millenia. Its basically made from woody refuse, twigs, leaves and such. Treated in a similar way to charcoal production, by smothering it, so that it smoulders with very little oxygen. Here's a link for your perusal. Hope you find it as interesting as I did.
