I'd like to get this bilge fan, but it runs on 13.6v, is there anyway I can run it on a regular 120v house line? I googled it, but couldn't find any adapters or anything
Don't waste your time on it...they don't do well with resistance and you'll still have to run it off a transformer. If you're looking for a low throughput fan, just get a duct booster fan at HD that's already wired for 120v. It won't be much better against back pressure, but they do ok for smaller setups.
I'd just need it for a small scrubber and to air-cool a 150 (intake ->scrubber -> cooltube -> exhaust)
It's a 3" 'rule' brand bilge fan, 135cfms
I was just gonna try to use a 50cfm fart fan, but figured to 135cfm inline bilge would be better, plus it's on sale so it's even cheaper than than much larger fart-fan.
Was gonna use either a 39cfm "705" can filter, or a small homemade scrubber.
How much is the bilge vent fan? You can get a 4" duct booster at HD ready to roll for under $30...you still need to add in the cost of a transformer with the bilge fan. Either will probably work fine with that scrubber (since actual thoughput will be much lower than the rated CFM) but it's gonna be close as to whether or not it will do an adequate job of scrubbing the air.
The bilge fan is $8.99 + S&H which is about $17 total
it's a 3" diameter 135cfm inline "bilge" fan
If the square 50cfm fart fan will be just as sufficient to scrub the air and aircool a 150w, that'd be the most convienent, although it'd take up more space.
That is, is the 50cfm fan will even work like I'm thinking.
By the way, the cab will be 1.25' D x 2' L x 4' H, but the bottom will be pretty much full with pots that are a foot tall. But we'll say 10 cubic feet to be safe
Honestly, it's tough to have too much airflow...if it were me, I'd go with the duct booster since it'll move a little more air and it should be super simple to setup (as well as being just as cheap). I had a friend running a 100w & 150w in a 24"x18"x5' and with 3 110v PC fans he couldn't hardly keep the temps under 90...plus I've heard some stories of those bilge vents not being very reliable - but I haven't used any of the above personally yet, so that's heresay.
