Bigger AC is better?

Hi i'm wondering if a 13000BTU window unit is overkill to vent into a 7x6x7 growtent do these things work less to keep temperature if they have more poweR? Peace

I wouldn't say it's too much,but you neglected one important fact,how many watts are you running?I have a 12000 BTU in an 8 by 8 room with 3 1K's

I copy and pasted this from a Friedrich AC site.

Will buying a higher BTU/h air conditioner cool my room down faster?

While capacity, measured in BTU/h, does determine how much cold air comes out of the unit, serious problems can occur when an air conditioner is oversized for a space. The more cold air that comes out of the unit, the more area it needs to circulate to avoid giving a false reading to the thermostat. If your unit is oversized for the area being cooled, what happens is that the air comes out of the unit, bounces off the wall back onto itself giving the thermostat a false reading. The t-stat reads that the room air has reached the set temperature and shuts the compressor off. While the compressor is off, the "real" room air enters the intake grille and the t-stat reads that the room is no longer at the set temperature so it turns the compressor back on. So your unit cycles off and on approximately every two to three minutes and, while the air coming out of the unit is cold, it doesn't remain in the room long enough for the room to get cold or to effectively remove uncomfortable humidity from the air. So, the more btu's you have the larger the area you need for the air to circulate.

We've run 3-1000's with a 12000btu AC

6-1000's in a 9x12 room w/ 15000btu works well, set at 74F, room fluctuates between 80-85f, co2 controlled.

6-1000's in another 9 x12 room w/ 25K should work better in this hot weather, we shall see.
