Big problem with 2nd indoor grow - Plz help!

Hi,

This is my second indoor grow & I'm having some major (nutrient deficiency?) problems. I'm growing Ace Seeds' Malawi & Bangi Haze in some decent size pots (5 gal buckets) under SCROG nets.

They've been showing some brown spots & shriveling up on the older shade leaves for a about 4-6 weeks now, but nothing super alarming. It looked like a phosphorus / potassium def. so about 3-4 weeks ago I split up a 1.6lb bag of Organicare Pure Granular Bloom (1-5-4) between the three plants, thinking this would solve the problem. (had similar problem with my previous grow, but didn't add any extra nutrients)

However, I went out of town for a couple weeks, had my neighbor water them, & when I got back there was a huge increase in the dead/shriveled up leaves and the plants are yellowing a lot, overall.

After using those Pure Granular Bloom nutrients & not seeing any improvement, I'm not sure what the hell's going on. Maybe it wasn't fast-acting enough..? Can anyone recommend a good fast-acting nutrient solution for soil, or a tea maybe? I could've sworn it was a P / K deficiency problem, but now I have no idea. I've read these strains don't need much for nutrients, so I was caught off guard a little by all this.

Any ideas/suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance :tiphat:

More info on the grow:
- Soil: Fox Farms Ocean Forest & "Super Soil" mix on bottom 4"
- Soil PH: The FFOF ph was low, so I brought it up to 6.7 before transplanting the plants to the final containers. (haven't checked it since, figuring it couldn't drop too low in 3-4 months)
- Light: 300w (150w actual draw) LED light per plant
- Scrog setup: 2'x2.5' scrog net for each plant
- Humidity: stays between 40-55%
- Temperature: stays between 60f (night) & 75f (day)
- Watering: 3L per plant every 3-4 days
- Light Cycle: 11hrs on / 13hrs off /
- Veg/Flower cycle: Vegged for 6wks / About 10.5 weeks since I flipped to the flower light cycle

hey!
looks like you need to stop feeding them and get your ph straightened out.
what I think happened was you started out with a ph problem and then you fed them and now it's gone into nutrient lock out/nutrient burn.

I have flowered out many 100% sativas. all I feed them is a small amount of time release fertilizer when I first put them into flower and after that they get nothing.... all I do is watch the ph and make sure it's not going outside of 6.3 to 6.7

peace!

Hey Mystic,

Thanks for the tip! You were spot on - I just checked the ph & it's way high. I guess those flowering nutes I added raised the hell out of it - should've seen that one coming & kept my eye on the ph.. :bashhead:

Oh well - there's always the next crop.. It's a pity though - really wanted to grow these (especially the Malawi) to their full potential.

You think there's any hope of salvaging the grow 10+ weeks into flower? Lol. I wonder if there are any methods of lowering soil ph from 8.2 to 6.2 in a few days..

Don't know about soil pH, I've never measured it. Plant magics old time moonshine is pretty quick and forgiving though, as I've never measured out a precice dose.

I would trim off all those dead leaves and do like donkeybrains said, flush them out with plain water to get rid of the salts that would ruin the smoke. if you want to get the ph down flush them with 6.0 or 6.2 water. until it gets down to where you want.
other then doing those things it's a little too late to do anything else.
you could add a week or two to the grow time, because they were lagged behind due to the problems.

peace!

Looks like you got it fixed but I had a similar problem and it was both a cal-Mag problem plus ph problem.

Thanks a lot guys, next time I water them I'll take your advice and flush them with some low ph water & let them go an extra week or two..

Not expecting much of a difference, but it's worth a shot!
