Big plants and big pots

Hey guys,

I'm trying to do a 2k 4 tree medical grow in this configuration (8x4 tent).

X 0 X X 0 X

I want to run soil, huge pots. What I can't decide on is the size! Bigger the better... I'd really like 100gallon smartpots but is it realistic to move these things when the plant has the medium pretty dry? I'm no wimp -- maybe even lift it just enough to put on a dolly cart.

My mix will be super light with tons of perlite & coco. Pretty sure a 1.5cuft bag of FFOF is 14gallons meaning it would only be about 8 bags. Any input is appreciated.

Hey bales,

I honestly don't think thats a good idea. I am all for big plants and pots, without a doubt you will see an increase all around when you go up in pot size. I just think its too much of a hassle in a tent to run things much bigger than 20gal. Think about lifting the pot up and over the tent lip... Good luck!

a 1.5cf bag is 11.25gal, and FFOF weighs about 22lbs/bag from my bathroom scale measurements.

If you're stuck with a tent, I'd go with 20gal smart pots as you can pretty easily lift them, and they can produce some nice trees. You may want to consider a panda 'tent' or section off a room. This is what I did so I have bigger space plus more access around the plants, and I can move the plants from veg to flower much much easier, as I am unable to lift my 23gal AirPots. They sit on 25" saucers and are a bit awkward. 2 people can do it, but its very awkward, so dragging them from room to room is far better than up and over the tent lip. Tent care of plants is also more of a PITA. I did it for 15mo, I liked the tents, but not having them is so much better.

my grow this year is 100 LITRE pots and the plants are heading now toward 3.6M (12 feet) ... which wouldn't fit in a tent. a marquee perhaps, but not a tent.

What Sat is saying is that you do not need a 100gallon pot. :D Its all about veg time, training of plant, nutrient type, and pot size. I notice much better growth every time I move to a bigger pot. My plants ATM at in ~23gal AirPots and an awesome amended soil mix, and I've seen a substantial increase in size from when they were transplanted into the 23's from 3's.

If I were you, I'd do a 20gal pot and get your training down. You should easily pull 8oz per each in 20's, and much more with a high yield strain and lots of training.
