I am also interested in the parentage of this strain. I have three runs on it and I want to cross it some of my other strains for outdoor cultivation. Thanks..

Hello my friends! Thanks for your interest! :tiphat:

Well, first of all I have to clarify that I colaborate with the Sweet Seeds seedbank moderating their subforums but I'm not properly a member of the seedbank. With that being said I can only share with you my opinion, based on what the Sweet Seeds breeders wrote in the strain descriptions for the catalog.

So, the autoflowering part comes from parentals related with cannabis ruderalis. The other part, which I believe is the one you are interested in, may have some skunk genetics (from what we can read in the catalog about her taste and aroma) but may also have other genetics on it. As Big Devil is, in some way, a Speed Devil that grows a bit bigger, and in the catalog we can read that the aroma of the Speed Devils dried flowers is sweet and with musky tones reminiscent of yeast and cheese, maybe the Cheese family is part of the ancertors. Now... this is my opinion based on what we can read in the catalog and on my personal experience with the strain. Of course it would be interesting to have more info about the Big Devils parentals but that's what we have. Sweet Seeds reveals the parentals of almost all their strains, but there are a couple of exceptions, such as Snow Fruit and also this Big Devil.

In case I get the chance to know a bit more about it I'll get back to this thread to update it. Sorry if I can't clarify this better.

Happy with your visit, hope to see around soon

Regarding phenotypes, the Big Devil is a little unstable. It may have three phenotypes. the first would be a little Haze, which will grow taller but takes longer. The second would be more auto which grows a little bit smaller. And the thrid would be codominant between them 2. This issue will be solved with the new strain Big Devil #2 which will be available next year and be more stable.

E-mail from the breeder, july 2010.

Hi Lord Winter!

Welcome to the Sweet Seeds subforum and to ICMag!

Thanks for sharing that ;) At the time I was not working with Sweet Seeds and I didn't have this information, although I know that Big Devil #2 (released a month ago) is more stable, productive and aromatic.

Stay cool, sweet smokes! :peppermintstick:
