dread put a link in the rep I gave ya. I used to purge on stovetop double boiler. its wayy too hot and destroys terpenes.
I was able to get rock hard on the stovetop but amber color not a nice light color. I then started doing individual purges in hot water. Id boil the water pour it in a reservoir that would fit my dish and purge till cooled. I do it five times and put it on heat mat and budder it. If you keep purging with hot water while popping all bubbles by grazing with a torch, I think you can achieve what ur tryin Dex.
I didnt pop my bubbles like I usually do this past time, I did only one purge with hot water also and an 8 hour heatmat purge(longer than what I usually do) and it buddered on its own. If you watch it and keep doing hot water baths while popping the bubbles without overly heating the oil, youll get some rock hard candy. Stay away from the stovetop, just boil water on it.
two runs one is diablo og, the other a mix of afghani and diablo.

I ripped some awesome fingerhash off of it. My leg is covered in oil... burnn Ti plate one, me 0.. Ive never hit a plate that hasnt been seasoned and I seem to have lost my .2 Ti plate "breaking in" hit all over my leg

you should never need to wash your BHO with any other solvent. dextr0, i get "absolute amber" every time without even trying. it's actually my unfinished product. i take that and whip it up so it turns into caramel or budder/wax. seriously just be patient. don't use everclear, don't use a burner.

These are my observations from overheated oil:
Cons:
-loss of flavor
-loss of structure (remains oily consistency)
-loss in potency (this is debatable and maybe not the best way to say it, see pros)
Pros:
-decarboxylation occurs, oil becomes ingestible and when vaped produces a more stoney effect
washing with an additional solvent does ensure a purer final product however to properly purge alcohol requires higher temperatures or a significantly longer time than butane
Room temperature is generally already greater than boiling point for butane so very light heating does a thorough job
I still believe the alcho washed oil would be purer however to retain the same structure and flavor as BHO the purging would need to be done carefully over a very long period of time

I think thats your best bet. I purge in the sun too if it is hot enough.I would do hot water washes until you cannot take it anymore, I think you can achieve that state without waiting too long if you do more than 5 boiling water washes and let each sit until you visibly notice nothing is bubbling and purging out.

I put 2 oz of trim through the okief extractor using two 320 ml cans of Vector butane. I only got about a gram or gram and a half of BHO
Shooting the butane through the packed tube into a tray of warm water is the way to go. You can easily collect the oil on the legs of your okief extractor stand.
It came out looking good, like whipped honey, but settled into a drab green. Is that normal?
It's not as strong as I thought, I just did two hits and I'm very high. But I can still walk, kind of.
I vape it by smearing it on some bud. Sandwich the result in between two screens in the bowl of a bong and heat it with a heatgun that has a narrow nozzle.
The taste is the bomb , It tastes like cardamom. It's like inhaling pumpkin pie.
Definitely the best way to enjoy the fruit of the cannabis plant IMO.

one time i was arguing with a guy, i was like, dude, if you overheat your oil, it will get permanently softer and darker and not as tasty. he was like no way the more you heat it the harder it gets, i was like, its stupid not to believe me i have done tons of research on this, and he stomped out and never comes over anymore. lol. nice to see me fully vindicated by virtually everyone.

LoL hes an idiot. I managed to make semi rock hard with double boiling on a stove,I used to get candy hard, but the stuff is darrrk amber ALL strains tasted the same when I did it. But I swear on everything green that I have made rock hard stuff by extracting in a pyrex bowl, double boiling it on the stove in a pot for an hour while covering it with a pyrex pie dish, I graze all bubbles until I see no more, after about an hour of boiling and popping bubbles the stuff is clear and not cloudy but a super dark amber and rock hard, sometimes a little sticky if not pure glass state , dead flavor, and half the high as some shit purged at a right temp. I havent done this ever since i started hot water baths, sunpurging and heatmat purging.
I stopped that method, it wasnt nearly half as potent as the stuff I make with my new purge method, it was just easy to handle and I was positive all the tane was out after 1 hour boiling on the stove.
That abosulute amber doesnt look amber at all IMO thats pure GOLD.
Id like to thank you again Hashmasta for my irreplaceable and one of a kind kut vape, you were my original inspiration and tech on how to extract and make and purge oils, much respect my friend.

Before the proper cure, I just leave it in the wind and sun until the liquid has evaped and then i either slowcure it over a panel oven for days or quick cure it over hot water or in the oven. Oven with the door open on 40 degrees works fine, i check it regularly to make sure the tray is not too hot to hold in my hands.

anyone notice some strains need to be pulverized more than others to get a good representation of the flavor in the final product?
I'm generally a hand break only kinda guy but I'm always experimenting and have noticed that while darkening the overall color of the oil, sometimes grinding up the flower before tanning results in a more potent and flavorful product.
This of course would only has to do with flowers, grinding up anything of lesser quality than popcorn nugs generally produces very chlorophylly oil
Here's a batch where I found grinding the bud led to an overall more enjoyable end product:
Lemon Kush (from the smell, definitely gets it's "kush" from bubba genetics)

another thing to preserve lemony smelling strains' taste dope roor, is to do the purge at extra lo temps. lemony terps evap super easy.

be careful with those plastic tips on the butane cans. they don't flow as well as the metal ones and I ended up pushing down too hard and broke the tip in half. now i have a half full can of tane i can't do anything with and i can't throw out...
lmao! i know how you feel i smoke a gram of sum bomb og oil in about 2 days. each time i take a hit on my vapor swing it's like the first time i have ever smoked its just way too powerful
