After some direction into best strains for autos in a winter grow. Prefer sativa but I know probably a tough ask. Will be in a little greenhouse. Cool temperate location.
Thanks!
You wont get as much sunlight as growing in the winter, with the shorter days. I would say there wont be enough light for the winter months in a greenhouse, you could give it a go but they wont perform like you want them to. Shorter sunlight hours will
affect your yield a bit but an autoflower shouldnt have a problem growing during the winter if temps werent too low.
Are you going to supplement light and heat? Autos, just like photos need optimal environment. If roots are cold, you won't see much growth.
Sativa dominant....unless it's coming from a cooler region (genetics), you may not reap much. Russian or Himalayan genetics, but most of those are indica leaning.
Try it and see....you won't reap much....but there's lessons learned and getting to know your plant, how it responds to colder, dimmer elements.
It's totally pointless to run autos in winter time.
Why?
Well because at this time all photoperiod plants behave "like autos" because of short days and start flowering soon after reaching maturity(3-5 weeks).
Also because autos get easily stunted if the environment is not optimal.
So you better plant a bunch of photoperiods for cold climate and see what happens.
