Best way to store erb for several months

I have to give up my little domicile and move in with dear ole mom for awhile,I have a couple dozen 1/2 gal ball mason jars to last as long as it lasts..Growing in the near term looks fuzzy though my mom knows fully what I do,I wouldn't do it in her house.I was thinking of refrigerating the jars,never gave it much thought before,never had to.I know it does wonders for my evil tobacki habit but I usually put my smokes in the freezer.Anyone have any experience in lengthy keeping of the erbal?

just keep it in the jars in a dark cool place. As long as the jars have a seal and the buds were well dried when put in there you can keep that herb that way for years. I actually have some from over 2 years ago and damn if it ain't got nothing but smoother...

p.s. - freezing will effectively stop the curing process which unless your bud is old already is not a good idea - also you risk condensation and mold when you take it out. Plus I don't think your mom will appreciate the bud in there next to her ice cream...

Also a lock box is a good idea imho

Sounds good to me sugabear,are those Golden Harvest 1/2 gallon Jars?All I could find in the half gallon were ball jars which are fine but I like the mouth the same diameter as the jar

i can't find those ball wide mouths any bigger than pint size. after that they stock the regular ones. i know what ya mean about the wide mouth though, definately easier to get fat arthritic fingers into, lol.

Hi. After drying I always freeze my grass in plastic containers. I have kept it for 8 months with no problems. To Thaw it out just lay it out on newspaper for an hour.

hey guys - those jars are wide mouth ball pint jars and half pint jars - As you can see I prefer the wide mouth too

Where do you get a good vacuum sealer that will do as large as a half pound at a time? I have seen the cheap kitchen sealers that use thin plastic, but I have purchased half pound bags vacuum sealed in tuff thick plastic. It must have been a commercial sealer. That is what I need - any advice where to look? Sugabear, the ones you sealed look like the ones I have seen on shipped commercial bud, pretty thick and air tight even when man handled. I think one like yours would do the trick. Thanks in advance for any info or a point in the right dirrection!

The largest true widemouth I've been able to find are the golden harvest 1 qt jars,the 1/2 gal ball jars are advertized as wide mouth but the top and bottom arent of equal diameter.

I can usually cram 14 grams into a pint...

american...I usually just leave in jars in a dark cool place. Up to a year with no problems. The problems start when you open and close the jars often. I would, if I were doing it, break the herb down into pints or halfs...that way you only have to break the seal on jars you are going to smoke in the foreseeable future. That has worked well for me Good luck with you mom...

Good Jar brands Kerr and Ball sold at WalMart or any hardware stores please do not store in the freezer a cool dark place or the fridge with a black plastic bag covering the jars

weed_life - I don't own a scale so I have'nt an exact number for you ... the big jars probably hold 14 grams - more or less depending upon strain - the half pint jars 7 grams or so... This is my stash to last for the next 3-4 years or so...

kokua - I totally agree with your point about the half pint jars - I also like to break it up into smaller jars that I will open and smoke out of until empty before opening another jar.

TGT - those are food saver bags - more expensive but they are the best - thicker plastic and stay sealed longer. I have a plain old black and decker sealer which ain't the greatest - doesn't seal as well as I would like, that's the part where it melts the two sides of the bag together - it's a thing line and the better ones seal a nice fat width - I've heard that food saver is the only way to really go - I definetly would not use anything but foodsaver bags no matter what brand sealer - I have tried the generic and the other brands and they're no good.

Well I think so - I really don't smoke with other people so it is truly just for my head - might only make it 2 years - which would give me 1/2 oz a month plus some hash which is about right for me
