Best way to close up the gap under my closet door?

G

My closet door opens inward into the grow room... there is about a 1" gap under it currently that light escapes through (and vice versa).

What is the best way to securely close this gap so that light / smell can't escape (and of course so that light cant get in)

I've used weather stripping along the inside of the door and managed to pretty eliminate everything along the sides and top of the door... I'm just stumped on the best way to take care of this gap on the bottom PROPERLY.

What have you guys done? Thanks!

Oh also, I'd prefer to keep everything on the INSIDE of the grow room part of the door... this way it doesn't look suspicious from the outside.

Thanks!

Jason you have many options
you could install a door threshhold on the floorspace between your doorframe
you could put a bristled /brush thing on the bottom of the inside of the door.

the gap size will also be a factor.

you could hang a drop cloth/curtain that contacts the floor a couple feet inside the door this helps with noise too.

use your imagination and be creative. your problem doesent sound too
difficult to solve :chin:
good luck

flip the hinges on your door so the door swings the other way then just use wood strips and weaterstripping to lightproof/seal it

then make a light trap at the bottom of the door. you could either use gapped overlapping panels like so.....

and just make a lighttrap like that. so there is that sideways U shape and there is that 180 degree bend. do that all the way across your door. you could even attacth it to your door. put weatherstripping between the bottom of the lighttrap and the floor to stop light escaping through there, and use space out brackets to hold the sideways U shaped section to your door. You'll have to leave the side near the hinges free of this and just block it off or something, because otherwise you won't be able to open your door. that just wouldn't be fun.
I still say flipping the hinges would be easiest. You can always use dryer duct and flatten the bottom to fit into the gap between the door and the floor, then just bend this 180degrees and make sure light isn't going straight through the white ducting (use silver maybe instead)

Road Signs.....LOL I use Road signs....I would take a pic but then maybe not. I just lean them up aginst the door. Still Allows for air to pass but light not to. Now I have vent in the floor so I will be able to cover up the door all together.

take the door off and staple a piece of poly or panda across the bottom of the door. make it flush with the inside of the door and hang off the out side of the door several inches, like 6" or so. it will make a flap that will tuck under every time you pull the door closed to you. the threshold is by far the bast idea so far though. ;)

it sounds like he wants ventilation coming from under the door though. even though he said at the beginning he wanted to lightproof AND seal it, he doesn't want the bottom sealed.
