are you buying it locally? I'd be more interested in the process they go through to make the compost, not necessarily what they're composting. some places are just trying to reduce biomass... I'd go around to places near you and talk to the people and get an idea of what they're operation is all about and make my decision based on that.
i do mean perlite but pumice, lava, even charcoal or, rice hulls can be good alternatives ~use whats available no need to hunt stuff down or order too much stuff
compost really depends on the quality of the compost <one could specifically formulate a compost to match the mix and be nutrient cycling too {amendments are introduced through the compost pile} it also needs to be "finished" one way to assure this is to give it to the worms for a while once the thermophilic part of the composting is over
sounds like a mix of those 2 composts fed to some worms could be good
buy some worm castings w/ the worms and use those to get started maybe
yeah you should source your amendments by whats available ~i prefer plant based amendments like kelp, neem seed meal, plant teas, etc but; some minerals is a good idea {a little clay and some glacier dust or basalt dust}
i didnt like my results from a 'super soil' type mix
