ivebeen ching my girls for a week ro so with the scope. gonna take a few buds off as trichs are mostly cloudy..then finish up the rest in a few days or so for more amber ones...

my question is ..is it etter to harvest after a full 12 hours of light or after 12 of dark?

yeah i read that in there too. ive read that you should have it after the dark period tho too so i wasnt sure. i have 2 plants s i did one after lights out and the ext one will go after a full day of lights on..see how it differs

there are 2 schools of thought. i cut first thing in the "morning".

as that was the concensus when i first looked into it.

i just read jorge's marijuana horticulture the indoor/outdoor medicl grower's bible. geeeze. what a title. he says to cut in the morning. "havest in the morning when THC content is at its peak." end of discussion!!! :)

I've never noticed a lick of difference, here's one you can take to the bank though. If a slow cure is your thing, hydrate the plants fully the night before or hours before chopping,a hydrated plant will take longer to dry and cure out.If time is of the essence chop it with a dryer medium

flush them wait till they are dry the soil that is then give them a 48 hour dark period and then cut them before they see any light. the reason being allot of things you do not want in your buds go to the roots durig the dark peroid and the plants glisten up real nice. george cervantes has written extensivley on this you can check it out if you look up some of his articles.

I heard that one as well and as a matter of fact, just tried it. It got a total flush, then it went about three more days until dry,two days of dark, cut the base, did a first over manicure and hung it. Plant was easier to work with and you could do a fast first manicure. Just hung it yesterday so I will see how it works. Smells great for fresh cut if that means anything.

Didnt mean to hijack the thread. Well all learn from each other.

It doesn't matter. But every time I've harvested I started (and plan on doing it in the future) about around 10-11 pm when the coast is clear and no one will be coming over in the middle of the harvest. I really don't think it matters when you harvest though, either way it goes the weed is going to get you high.

I usually let the plants sit in the dark for a full 2 days with lots of water before harvesting. I don't know if this benefits the quality at all, but I have been doing it like this for years so I just keep on doing it. I am a creature of habit I guess. When I think about it - I find in the morning the buds feel more sticky, and after a day of sun a little less. Could be my imagination, but this is probably what sits in the back of my mind keeping me to my pattern of repetition.

i've gone back and forth on the 48 dark period before the harvest.

i haven't done it in a few years. jorge's new book says the jury is still out on whether it enhances or not. i would think the difference in high would be minimal. who can tell when you have many ounces of nature's finest. :)

all of my plants get the chop when the lights first come on after the dark cycle...i personally think it does not matter...well im high anyway

about the wet or dry before cutting. i typically let them get to the point where they need watering and then cut them. i assume it helps them dry faster.

although i like to slowly dry and then cure, i rarely do that. i typically cut the colas into buds while trimming, put them on newspaper and they are ready for the cure jars in 5 to 6 days. i'm jaded. :)

i like the idea of waiting till they need to be watered again so as to get them dryer faster. or so it seems anyways heh. i usually try to get them in jars but by the timethey finish up im always out of weed an can never give them the time to truly cure. im hoping this time i can as ive never harvested this mch before

d4.

If you let them get dry they'll probably have a bit less water running through them.

we only feed afghan plants 1cup of cold water a day after 5weeks,,

some people still seem to think the more you water them the more they grow..lol

gotta feel sorry for those hydro growers.. hehe :biglaugh:

Hi

I usually stop watering them, then give them 48hrs of dark startin the moment the 12hr light period has finished, it works well for me

Dude I totally hear you on that on. Don't worry it happened to me too lol. Now that I plan on having a mother hopefully the constant harvests will allow me to have enough to smoke and have enough to cure for at least longer than 6 wks lol.
