I second the Promix BX or HP, but in reality it is not a soil but a soiless mix - but who cares, I find it works the best over all.

Promix hp with myco. 60% promix hp, 20% ewc, 20% chunky perlite.

Its pretty interesting....

the myco stuff...

on their web site they show pics of plants in regular promix and some with promix with myco....

Im doing my first grow with the myco stuff and the plants are clearly better...

not many products I have been able to see a clear difference.....

Im on the myco bandwagon.....

From my reading the myco doesnt do much for you the first couple weeks.... but as the roots get colonized they kick in.......

PRO MIX?!? That's sooo 2006 ish! lol J/K!

PRO MIX?!? That's sooo 2006 ish! lol J/K!

If yer totally new ta growing I'd go with Fox Farm ocean forrest,or their Happy Frog (it's alil cheaper),but I would add/mix 30% pelite to it so it will drain better. This soil is very stable and is very forgiving to newbe mistakes. It's jus full of all kinds of micro critters too! One of the reasons it is so forgivable... Good luck! BC

^I concur. I used FFOF the first time around and it is an extremely forgiving medium and is immune to major PH fluctuations, for the most part.

I am using the following currently:

- Straight FFOF; four girls, 2 weeks into flower

- 80% ProMix BX, 20% FFOF for my seedlings

- Straight ProMix BX for some outdoor girls

- 50% Promix Bx, 50% Miracle Grow Organic Choice, some veggies(radishes, tomatoes, lettuce, and kale under T5's

- Straight ProMix, 64 Papaver Somniferum

So far the straight FFOF has been the most forgiving, with the 50/50 ProMix/MG a close second.

I've been mixing about 50-50 FFOF with Black Gold All Organic, a tablespoon of dolomite lime per gallon, and a teaspoon of Age Old myco per gallon, and getting great results.

Plus, the Black Gold doesn't burn seedlings like the FFOF does.

Here's some Satori I vegged and just started flowering in this mix, and they're doing great.

Interesting about FFOF burning seedlings. I've started around 20 seeds in FFOF and none of them burned. Surely the bags of FFOF vary a bit and it's, of course, different from strain to strain.

I keep my soil in a big 40 gallonish trashcan.

2 bags of FFOF 1 bag of Botanicare ReadyGro Aeration Formula.

"Botanicare ReadyGro is a specialized blend of perlite, coir fiber, compost accelerator, earthworm castings, Agrimineral 72 silica clay, polymere hydro-crystals and Rootshield bio-fungicide."

60 bucks and you have a great soil that you can't over water.
