I use General Hydros Liquid pH test kit.

Simply fill the vial up half way,put in three drops of the pH test indicator fluid and shake for 10 seconds and match to color chart.

I use this to check my soils pH too.

Simply get some pplain 7/0 pH water and water your plant slowly and walk away for a few minutes (no water should drain from your container).Come back and be sure to hace a bowl to catch the runoff with or you could place the vial under a hole to catch the runoff.

Water slowly again until you see signs of runoff.Collect only the first few drops of run off to fill the vial half way.

Add the trhee drops of indicator fluid and shake and match.

pH of the runoff os the pH of the soil.

I got a Kelway soil tester....awesome. Spot on and you don't have to check runoff. You
just stick it in the soil for an instant reading.

I also use ph strips from the aquarium or pool section at walmart for checking water ph. Also shows hardness of water, and nitrate levels.

Cheers,

Go to the Pet store in the aquarium section, they have a junior Ph test kit, it only takes 2 drops and it's only 5ml. I have enough for a yaer of testing and the drops are only like 5 bucks and they'll last a long time

Yeah, this is true, but you can't measure runoff or murky fluids. With the pH stix-you drip and read-no staining and bleeding from the fluid to deal with.

IAMX, just order them-there are plastic stixs with a pH compound ont he end-it has two color codes to dial int he pH.

They work great for me and you don't have to calibrate them or store them in a fluid.

The drawback is that it takes 30-45 seconds to complete a test unlike the instant digital pens.

@ minds_I : I am definately getting these! im getting the 80 pack $7.99 and the $5.35 dollar shipping which is 3-5 days, and they are in AZ which is right by my state. Thanx again. Could you explain any order you go through to test/feed/monitor all solutions and soil?

Well, basically, I test my mixed solution before I give it to the plants and if the pH is between 6.25 and 6.75 its good-else I adjust as needed to this range.

They work great for fluids that are murky.

I went with the three pack.

Mmmmmm. Never heard of this before. I've done side by side with the sticks and they were the same reading as my drops. So have my readings been wrong, this long?

I was reffering to the liquid pH solution in the sample viel. Not ordinary litmus paper.

If you had better luck with the liquid pH soultion method-who am I to say otherwise.

I can only say that i found it difficult to get good readings from my murky runoff and the cloudy fert soulitions I used to use.

I like what I am using now so far.

As far as being wrong - its all good. As long as you are in the pH ballpark.
