Best pollen storage method

Hey guys/gals,
As a mad scientist, I am always acquiring new pieces of lab equipment. Well, recently I was looking at some freeze dryers and I thought wow these would make the perfect way to store pollen for a long time while keeping the pollen viable. Of course the pollen would have to be dried a little before freeze dried. Anyone try this technique?
The benefits would be great. You wouldn't have to cut it with flour and it can be transported with relative ease without loss of viability. I think it is worth the trouble. I can get the pollen, freeze dry it and then try to knockup one of the girls. Of course fresh pollen from the same daddy will be used as a control. Better pot through science.

Nugs of Science, i use to use little glass chemistry tubes with a cork on top, but since i lost my mazar polen and JLP's cindy haze polen i quit that method..

Now, i use some little containers called ependorfs (sp) that a friend gave me.
He is studying agric. eng. and these babies are used to store samples of whatever - from dna to liquids they seal tight and they have the ability of, if you put 0.04562 ml in it, you will get the same quant out.

I put them on the fridge and now i don't need to go there and check them all the time anymore, i think this is the best method i've tried.

Sorry, I somehow missed your reply. So, let me understand your method. You collect pollen and store it in eppendorf tube, snap it closed and store in frig? Is that right? How long were you able to keep the pollen viable for? I appreciate any input. As a mad scientist, I have to point out, you will never get the same volume out of a tube that you put in. Try it. I wouldn't lie to ya.
