Hello good people. I am not a new grower, but it has been some time since i grew indoor for quite some time now. I have a question for you guys about ventilating a setup with cooltube and an inlinefan. I remember when I started growing in the late 90's the recomendation was to not overheat the inlinefan and thus distancing it from the light source.

Now when cooltubes have been here for some time, do you guys recomend me to blow the air out of the cooltube with the inline fan, or suck the air out of the system?
I'm using this desing to make a vertical ScROG. If you don't understand my question I have a homemade "blueprint" of the setup show below that show the idea of the fan blowing the hot air inside the cooltube and out of the tent. Or do you guys have any info or experience that provides a better solution to suck the air out the cooltube? Then my insulated box with the fan has to rest on the roof outside the growtent, can be pretty heavy for the tent.
Anyway, here she goes.

Have a good one!

I forgot to say, the inline fan is 350/m3 per hour, I really don't know what that is in cfm. But the growtent is 100cm x 100cm x 200cm
or ~3,2' x 3,2' x 6' (length width height)

And there will be intakes both from the ventholes in the bottom of the tent and at the roof.

3.2x3.2x6 equals 61 cubic feet. 61 cubic feet is 1.7 cubic meters.
the fan's air flow of 350 cubic meters per hour is almost 6 cubic meters per minute
that would work out to almost four complete air exchanges for that space per minute.

In the picture, you show the vent tubing leaving from the top of the space. Is that the plan or will you have a bend to route the vent tubing to an outlet in the side of the space? Are you planning on a vertical/colosseum approach?

@anvelzy, thansk for the reply, and the math :)

Yes there will be a 90 degree bend at the top of the tent for exhaust attached to a diy muffler.

What size light are you running? The dr100 is 4.5 ft square if I remember correctly

I ran a similar setup years ago in about the same space
1000w hid
No cooltube
8" inline w/ filter hung topside of the room
Small fan under the light blowing hot air up

Temps stayed stable no problem and I didn't have to worry about lumen loss or cleaning a cooltube

But if you're stuck on this setup it'd say blowing the air thru the tube past the Kirby and out would be better

blowing not pulling.. when u pull u allow for any leaks to bring smell with .. when pushing through any leaks just add a lil heat to your grow

@mello : I am running a single 400w hid. The last run temps weren't so good for me, with the similar ventilation solution as you. Got really hot, summertime with lights on at night. So the cooltube is staying ;)

@EastCoast710 and @mello : Thanks for the input, yeah I decided to blow the air from the cooltube. Thanks good folks.

And by the way, my ignorance about feet and inches maybe confused some of you about the volume of the DR100. The total volume is 2 cubic meters.

It's winter now forget the tube and setup again accordingly for the spring I ran a 1000w Hps np during winter barebulb
