Best micro plane for bubble hash/ice wax

I use a cheap cheese grater right now for my bubble, was wondering if anyone had any links/suggestions for one that works really well and doesnt get your fingers to caught up in it. Feel like I'm grinding off more of me than the hash when I get down to the last tiny pieces.

Sweet, thanks man. I was gonna buy that one awhile ago but ended up going to walmart and picking up a piece of crap. I'll probably order her right now.

order 3... they go dull quick. Its best to have them sharp. I keep a stack around for when the people need bub. Hasnt really happened to much since I started dropping the "dsw" pure sift on em tho........

was thinking about getting some screens, but not sure how good I would be at it. Takes a lot of practice from what I've heard. I will here sooner or later, hopefully sooner. I've never even had proper dry sift.

Might I offer a suggestion?

Don't use a micro-plane, but rather use a stainless steel stainer.
Use your hands or the back of a regular spoon to force the hash through the holes.

I've found that using this method wastes less resin.

Micro-plane gets dirty and hard to clean, stainer retains very little of the resins and is much more forgiving on them knuckles and fingertips.

Just an idea, because I end up losing about a 1/2 g to the micro-plane.

Not to mention, knuckle juice.

Holy crap man, I could not agree more. After planing all that bubble I feel like an elderly lady, "My fingers hurt..."

Whats the trick to using the strainer? I was gonna pick one up, but from what I saw it seemed the plane was more popular.

You just basically gently press it through the screen to break it up right? And I would assume you dont do this frozen as with the plane, so when is the best time?
Should I try to leave a bit of water in the resin when it's sitting on the pressing screen then do it, or should I try and get the majority of the moisture out before pushing through the strainer?

I definitely can see the loss using the micro plane, that shit doesnt come off either. tried freezing it the smacking the shit out of it and it still stuck on there. Can only get it clean using ISO.

You got it brother!
I personally like to wait until it's a little drier, because if it's still too wet the resin will just stick to the screen just like the micro-plane.

It's much quicker also, you can take a patty and push it through with minimal time/effort.

After doing this, I haven't gone back to the micro-plane.
Hope this helps Elements!
Mad respect for ya brother!

Right on, thanks man! Sounds like a plan. It'll make doing multiple runs 10x easier too since I only have one pressing screen to freeze the resin on at a time.

Time saver, I love it!

Good idea on the strainer, thanks. Elements if you want to check out dry sifting there is a bunch of new info up again.

Cheers.
Thanks once again. :)

I also find that the micro plane "shaves" the trikes we've just worked our ass off to collect them as a whole.

Just seems like you're literally destroying the gland(s) by grating.
Simply my opinion, and observation.
The strainer is easier and much more forgiving, I've also found that simply running a dull knife in a chopping action through the hash immediately after removing the majority of the water works very well.

I completely agree. At first I liked planing because it made a great consistency for dabbing. Now I realize that it just ruptures the glands and makes the products shelf life decrease. I have been chopping it with a razor blade recently, but thet's probably too sharp. I'll go find a dull butter knife or something like that for the next round.

I've just come to find that if I rough chop it enough to dry I can just take as many pieces as I want, press them into a small thin flat disc, then dab away. Works just as well as the flakey stuff, if not better. Plus its fun to play with the hash, a lot like play dough lol.

I use toothpicks to do like pulled pork..right after patty goes dry for about 5 mins i start to do this.. no press break up ..takes few mins but whatever.

The art of a good press is quickly diminishing in the good ole US of A. Fill a mason jar or bottle of wine with 120 degree water, cover your glands with organic parchment paper and press the bottle down firmly rolling it over your glands, this will bind them together and give you the good ole' fashion consistency found in most of the world. You can then roll little tooth pick size sticks of hash for the middle of joints/blunts, they are also great for dabbing (just keep the pure separate for dabs). oneLove

I like pushing it through a sieve too.

Micro-planing is a pain in the ass. But it does dab a little better when half way dried, frozen and micro-planed into ice wax.
