Best method for straining wet material?

Hello all! Over the years, I feel like I've tried dozens of different methods to strain the ground up cannabis that still has lots of great oil inside it. After using a regular metal mesh strainer, I usually use presoaked cheesecloth and press by hand. I've tried a garlic press, but they're always too small it seems.

I was wondering if anyone out there had simplified this process? Here are my current thoughts:

Wheatgrass Juicer - Never used one, but seems pretty straight forward. The main downside I see here is that a lot of the plant material would end up in the final product, leading to a darker product and potential stomach discomforts.

Pnematic Press - I have one to make Rosin with, could this also be used for this purpose? I've seen high end juicers that use this, so I wonder if there is some kind of a replacement plate I could buy instead of having to make one to direct the juice? Check this out, this should explain what I'm looking for, just the juice tray: http://www.norwalkjuicers.com/blog/2015/2/20/press-plate-101

Food Press w/ Pestle - If you've never seen one, google it. Never used one of these either, but looks pretty simple. Are they effective? Would you have to still use cheesecloth?

I am not interested in very small methods for doing like 1/2 a tablespoon at a time, that would take way too long.
Thanks everyone!

I use a piece of square silk and the winding method to squeeze the last out of it.

The Chef'n Press is a potato ricer that has the same feature as the Fiskar loppers, a ratcheting mechanism for lack of a better description. supposed to give 60% more pressure than a regular potato ricer. Another Ic member recommended it, cant remember who though.

Thanks for the replies. I had never heard of a potato ricer. That's exactly what I've been looking for in all my garlic press trips to the store. Buying one of those today and I'll see if that solves my problems.

You won't believe how well they work  I wonder how I did it before

Get a good one. I make 2 pounds of CanaCoconut Oil using 2 ounces of Buds and mine handles it well

Yes..

Yes..

Do you wrap it in cheesecloth before using the potato ricer?

I first strain the plant material in a metal strainer lined with the cheesecloth and pull out the whole cheesecloth/plant ball and then put it in the Potato Ricer. One squeeze is all I really need.

I get about 15 out of 16 ounces of CanaCoconut oil. Gets it all no water needed. If you are using butter, try clarified as it does not have any water in it.

I haven't used a regular potato ricer, but they don't look like they would press as well as the Chef'n press one. It's about ten dollars on amazon . Coconut oil is a lot better at hiding the weed smell than butter, don't really need to do any "water washes" with coconut oil.

I got mine for $30 at Williams Somona. Made of Steel with stainless strainer/press. Worth every cent.

Yes - Coconut oil is easier to use has a higher fat content to hold more THC. Keeps longer in the freezer and tastes better

I don't make much butter anymore

mine is shiny metal as well but the whole thing ..it will last forever and I don't think it was made in china either..mine was brand new with tags at a thrift store they didn't know what it was ..paid like 20$$.. ya,, I know its an overpriced thrift store...yeehaw...I am liking coconut oil much better than butter too

I agree 100% on the coconut oil vs butter. Butter gets all crumbly and has kind of a nasty distinct taste to it. I've been putting them in cannacaps lately, trying to figure out the proper dose. The last batch I made, I calculated that there's only about 5mg of THC in each cap, way too low, so I take 6 and don't feel much of anything. Home made edibles are SO much better than what you get at a dispensary though. That shit at the dispensary generally just makes me fall asleep.
