Best hydro system for 4x4 tent and why?

I have a 4x4 tent that I would like to convert to a hydro setup. Currently I'm running in Foxfarm OF. The only experience I have with hydro is DWC diy buckets like Waterfarm. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi OrganicFarmer,

The easiest method imo would be a flood and drain table. You could sog, scrog, or grow fewer larger plants. As for medium, being that you are used to FFOF, look into coco. You could hand water or ebb and flo.

I definitely recommend Botanicare Pure Blend Pro and Hygrozyme as mandatory nutrients. I have tested many a bottled nutrient and Botanicare is mostly organic and easy to use. For coco ph 6.0 for hydroton, rockwool, ph 5.8.

The most important thing is keeping the res temp down. The Hygrozyme makes that more forgiving. I have never had root rot when using Hygrozyme. Worth its volume in gold.

You will need a tray, res (rubbermaid tote works, get the lid), pump, timer, pots, and medium.

If your water is good, environment stable, and you stay on top of ph, it is really easy.

Hope this helps, any questions throw me a pm.

Peace, Les

Thanks for the response, LB. I'll try that flood and drain. It sounds like what I need to get my routine simplified. I already have the nutrients figured out. I use Hydroponic Research Veg + Bloom at the moment. It is a one part system that you just raise the ec as you progress through the life cycle. So I guess I'll get a Rubbermaid tub, a pump, and a tray. I already have a recycle timer. Can the tray just sit on the reservoir? Will a 4x4 tray actually fit in the DR120?

Ebb & flood is a good one if you need a stealthy system. NFT is a better choice and will produce slightly higher yields.

I could but I was just looking at all the other options. I have height limits, so I didn't know if there was a better option.

I would adapt D9s ppk.. 4x4 rez fed from a bulk outside tent. 8 plant sites on top. Scrogged into a 4x4 screen. Under a 600 or 1k light. Easy peasy. After flip the only maint would be topping off your bulk rez. No ph worries no ec worries. Just feed an grow. I fed over 3000 ppk of jacks to my plants in one of these by accident with zero burn. Try that in ebb and grow or nft. Ppk in turface or floor dry fed jacks equals lots of bud with very little effort an no need to worry about ph or pump failures. My 2cents.

Im gonna throw my 2 cents in and suggest you look into bio buckets. I have a 5x5 tent and have a 6 bucket setup. (Pics of my system are in the "second run" signiture) As far as maintenance, its almost non existent. No rez changes and no ph adjusting, benificial bacteria do all the work, as you sit back and admire all their hard work. Bio buckets are so well designed, I find myself standing around in my grow room just looking for SOMETHING to do, but its all taken care of. All you need to do is add nutes weekly and then sit back, put some tunes on and roll a blunt! Just a suggestion.

Info can be found in my signature and look up Bigtoke's Guide to Bio Buckets, good place to learn the basics of the system and why it works so well. Good luck my friend.
