My old cat has become sooooooo fussy. Loves Trout flavored gravy cat food but lately has only licked the gravy and left the solids behind. What's your opinion on what the best canned cat food is for neutered male cats?

As in cooked chicken, no seasonings, and put the grease back on top. My dawg eats a lot of chickens, and her coat is beautiful.

Old animals don't eat very well, and they get mindful of consequences (pooping) if they are inside. Something to keep in mind.

Aside from a constant bowl of cat 'crunchies', she loves plain cooked chicken and beef - no oil or butter - boiled or roast is best. Cesar Wet Dog Food is her equivalent to a McDonald's one-in-a-while pig out.

As they get older, they seem to care less for food, and want care more.
A can of mackerel will at times get their interest. My oldest lays here in a chair right beside me, they all seem to like to stay near by, and love to be talked to and and petted often, seems almost like they want the attention as much as they do the food.
I keep a bowls of dry out for them al the time, along with clean water.
Often seems like it is attention they want and need more than anything else.

Leg quarters are the most economical.

I was referring to brands. I agree on the chicken but this particular cat won't eat chicken. Love this Sheba w/gravy and in particular the Trout ( there was a run on trout for months it seemed just sold out everywhere ), but the problem is he'll lick up the gravy and then not drink enough water. So am trying to find a suitable replacement for the prince lol

Check out that old guy's teeth, is he chewing anything?

............... maybe you'll have to chew it for him. :D

Chicken thighs have the most protein and are nutritionally dense, but I don't know how easy to chew.

Slow cooker forever for the win/win! :good:

when my cat does that, i get a fork and smash everything together. The end product will look like baby food and the cat eats all..

Licking the gravy off is often a sign the meats not good. The gravy might have more meat in it, for the smell, while the chunks might contain very little. They will use the new product label that means cheaper product, until sales drop. Then it's another new product, or original recipe, with add campaign. Get the sales up. Then repeat with the new recipe nonsense. Reeling people in, then selling them rubbish. The UK's biggest brand is mostly fat, as like us, animals crave fat products. It's surprising we don't have them on sugar yet. Instant fix stuff.
