I dont know that one t-5 is any better than another. Just look on amazon, or even better get a used one from eBay and buy it new bulbs. Its true, nothing beats an hps for growth, but they are nice for preveg. Ive noticed that the ants that start out under the t-5's have tighter internode spacing which makes for better\tighter bud structure come flower. I too usually throw them under the floros for a couple weeks before the big lights. Its also nice to have a less intense light for moms to hang out under

There are several types of T5 bulbs. They are all bi-pin connector type bulbs. They bulbs and fixtures look the same so the only way to tell is to see a bulb marking or inspect the ballast. The designations are T5, T5HE, and T5HO. I use a T5HO and they are the highest power of the three and that is what I use and recommend. If you buy a T5 intended for growing that is likely to be what is offered. If you buy a T5 intended for interior area lighing, T5HO is not what is likely to be offered. If you mail order a fixture you should be able to specify the color temperature of the bulb. If you mail order and that option is not offered, I would call or email.


I am a lazy shopper so I mail ordered home despot $138 Viavolt 4 x 4ft T5HO. It comes with 4 6700K bulbs, one of which was broken, they replaced it. You can get a better deal.
