can anyone recommend good/quiet 4" PLUG IN axail fans. i will be using 1 to exhaust my 250HPS fixture and another to exhaust my small hydro hut like tent. tent has 5 available 4" ports for passive intake.
i see all different axial fans all over internet, they all seem pretty much the same but i'm sure some are better than others. thanks. :joint:

eco plus makes good ones so does shen-ya or you could just go to grainger and get one they have various 4" like 10 different ones some real quiet some real powerful a nice selection.

i made a cab out of a steel storage cabinet with a 250 watt hps and was going to use those axial to exhaust the light there ere no bends in the dusting just a straight shot from where the air cooled reflectors intake to the exhaust. i set up 2 4" axials on it one at the very end of the exhaust and other right after the exhaust end of the reflector and they were rated at 125 cfm. the run of duct was only 3 feet and straight and the fans did not work at all to cool the light.

The orion fans are plug and play, no need for a transformer, and they last for about 60,000 hours which translates into a little more than 6 years of continues use, they are also some of the fastest in CFM rating with mine running at 110-CFM and its only 4" in diameter, also they work well with back pressure something that cripples most axial fans.

Has anyone thought about using 120mm fans designed for a computer? I plan on using a power supply from a computer and attacking 4 fans threw it. I have setup trick water cooling setups before, and the 120mm fans can push 90-110 CFM.

The one im using is rated at 37-dB which is not quiet but also not loud, Id say it sounds comparable to a 16" oscillating fan funning on high.

I have an axial fan and a 4in computer fan. The axial fan I have is rated at 100cfm and my computer fan is rated at 55cfm. If I had to compare the two it would be like comparing a child to an adult in terms of air pulling power. I also prefer the axial because it came with a regular plug, the computer fan I had to wire myself and find a proper transformer.
