hrm.. the nature of alcoholic cannabis drinks as has been explained to me, is that it hit's quick because it can permiate<sp?> membranes, but because some of it falls out of solution in the less alcoholic contents of your stomach, so not all of it is absorbed.
regardless, it is said to hit fast, but not as hard as well prepared fat/oil based products, which can be absorbed more completely..
is aw a recipe in Cannabis Culture that started with alcohol (rum?) and went on to work with cream and ice-cream, which may help to carry it farther..
the taste of weed can be strong, some recommend soaking first in plain water to lessen the taste of the plant.
consider milk base beverages, as fatty liquids with emulsifiers. hot chocolate? mexican hot chocolate (w/ cinnamon)?
check out east indian recipies.
the lecithen acts as an emulsifier to help the oil and water based parts to mix.
the alcohol already mixes.
this should (in theory, and likely in practice) allow the dose to hit you quickly, and fully.
i suggest keeping volumes small, and cannabis portions large so they are digested quickly.
meaning that 10g milkshake (if it's good bud) isn't one dose..but 5 to 20.
and you arent trying to fill your belly with mjmilkshake..
start with a small strong mjmilkshake, and 1/2 hour later,when the munchies start to kick in, start on a plain milkshake..
maybe this whole milkshake thing isnt your thing.. do you have access to everclear? if so, there is much that can be done.
a high octane (proof) vodka can do the trick... have a quick search, there are a few. basically its putting some primo buds into some vodka for X days/weeks/months
I'll probably get flamed for this but it is based on lots of experience with solvents. Where alot of people go wrong with making green dragon (alcoholic weed drink) is they soak for too long. A long soak leaches out bitter chlorophyl, hence why it is green. Most solvents or high proof alcohol extract THC on contact so a long soak is not needed...........a few minutes tops. When you do it, make a batch with a short soak, then use the same material for a long soak and see which one will almost make you puke and which one gets you bent the most. I never soak longer than a few min with high proof alcohol.
It's just like when you make cannabutter....you could use stems...but it would take a hell of a lot. It's best to use the buds. I prefer vodka personally if I was going to make the drink again.
I still prefer making cannabutter and then cooking some brownies, cookies or cake with the butter. I think it gets me even more bent than the canna-alcohol (green dragon).
Wouldn't it be easier to get some bud, grind it up, and steep it with some regular vodka then add hot water?. Basically making a tea with shots of alcohol.
The heat from the hot water will speed up the cannabis extraction and the alcohol will hold the extract as well as speed up the absorption in the intestines.
Adding black tea would help with the extraction due to the tannins. The tannins will prevent the thc from degrading and turning into cbn which means more of a high and not a stone. Also, the caffeine should help you prevent being lethargic.
my tinctures are made with hash, and i get my stuff to a consistency of sand or as fine as possible within reason just for surface area and to dissolve quickly. i use 190 proof ethanol as my beverage and will slowly cook the hash in the ethanol until i both decarboxylate the thc and also reduce the volume of ethanol in the vessel to the size of my liking. after ive had her up around 200 degree fahrenheit for awhile.. i eventually will cool it down and be left with my little shot. ill take this and mix it into many different little cocktails, it forms an extremely potent, relatively fast acting, and extraordinarly discreet/portable way to get a little goofy. solvent ratio for pure ethanol with hash is 10 parts ethanol to 1 part hash.
Here's a recipe I translated from soft secrets magazine. It's quite elaborate and you can just simplify it yourself if you want to. I tried this with some outdoor-purple and wodka and the result was an outstanding dark purple wodka-drink that smelled of purple and tasted reaeaeaely good:
Creme de gras (liqueur).
Put 2 grams crushed weed or more in a 0.25 liter bottle. Add 1 part heated wodka (dangerous with open flames, not on gas) and 1 part water, so that the bottle is full and shake and stir a bit. Keep in dark place for 5 days at room temp.
Now sieve the weed out of the liquid, U can use the used weed a second time doing the same thing as above with new wodka and water. Sieve this again after 5 days and add the two extracts together.
Now soak the used weed in a 0.25 liter bottle of plain water for another 5 days and stir. Then heat this bottle in a pan for 45 minutes. Make sure the cap on the bottle is loose and not airtight cause then it may explode! Shake it. Strain this from the weed and add the water to the other wodka -and water extract(s). Now you should have 0.75 litre of liquid.
Now filter this (some times) in a coffee filter to filter out tiny sludge..
Now heat a (bigger) bottle with the extract in a pan and add a/some spoon(s) of honey and shake the bottle.
Let the liqueur rest for a few months. New sediment will form on the bottom of the bottle so you can filter it again to improve taste. DONE! Shake before drinking
That's it, I used a bit more weed and just let it rest for a month or so.. Sediment did form again which means a little bit of a harsh taste so filtering many times is a good thing but takes real long with coffee filters and is difficult and you'll end up vapourising a lot of liquid.. So with a good filtering technique (..I'd like to hear about it) this is a real good cannabis drink.
*note* ive never made a beverage out of mary herself, but the hash i have.
i know this isnt probably what you want to hear but, thats dependant on a few different variables. firstly you need to know what potency youd like your end product to be. 2ndly what strength is the starting material. and finally, what is your own tolerance?
just as an example for me - i consume between 3/10 tenths or 1/2 of a gram of 90u or better bubble. i would guess that would equal around 2 grams of 15% thc ganja in my shot for my dose. now... not everyone has nice ganj to cook with so you might need to scale it up a bit for potency or tone it down a bit for tolerances.
in short, if your using mid level ganj with a moderate tolerance rough guess would be 20 grams for 1 litre.
I haven't tried this yet, but an approach that seems worth a try would be to start as if you are making ethanol/everclear hash with good bud.
Break up you bud, wash with ethanol, strain and filter. The wash time is short, (15 to 30 seconds is what I have seen on hash threads), if you don't want to pick up much besides the THC.
Repeat this process several times with fresh bud, but using the same alcohol. The intent is to saturate the alcohol solution with THC. Papulz's guidelines should give an idea of the bud to alcohol ratio, though I expect my approach is not as efficient as starting with hash.
This seems like a very discreet way to store some mj product and hopefully you don't have to drink too much in order to get stoned. I hope to try this once I get a grow done. I'll have more than enough bud if my personal grow is successful.
