best 250w hps bulb for lumatek ballasts?

looking for some good bulbs for my new lumatek 250w / 240v digi ballast

anyone have some good advice or links to good bulbs?

I had a 250hps Hortilux go bad after two months and switched to a cheapo Ushio hps that was about 1/5 the price of the Hortilux. see this post for some good bulb choices:

My favorite flowering bulb is Hortilux HPS. (Actually, mixed 3:1 with their SuperBlue MH or Solarmax MH)

My favorite veg bulb is the Hortilux SuperBlue MH, but if I don't want to spend a ton of cash I get Solarmax MH for veg. Right now I'm testing a CMH in veg as well (on my youngest girls), but you can't run those in a Lumatek.

Opinions are like assholes though, and pretty much whatever you find gives you good results is what you should go with.

Honestly, the chief difference that I have found in my plants when grown under Hortilux vs. standard HPS is in the growing habit (generally less lanky, more even stretch), not really quality or yield (although with a really spindly Sativa having some blue light increases bud density and therefore yield to some degree). I think that a plain old HPS from Home Depot will do just fine if your'e trying to save money. When I first started growing I used standard bulbs all the time -- if my bulbs didn't pay for themselves now, I might still do it :wink:. If you don't mind a little leggier plants, using a standard HPS bulb is no big deal. Same thing goes for a veg bulb, the main difference between more and less expensive bulbs is growing habit, not necessarily rate of growth or yield. Hope this helps a bit more than the last post.
