Going to be there for a week visiting my parents. Ive never been there, and my parents just moved there. Any good way to find bud there? I think it be risky as hell, just cuz i dont wanna land in communist jail. plus i dont know much mandarin so that makes it even trickier.
any advice would be great

Guess the only advice would be to be very careful. And I have a friend in Hong Kong who got caught with bud and managed to bribe the cops.

hey thanks octothorp. I guess nobody around here knows much about the Bejjing bud scene. I think they are more of hash/opium smokers over there but i figure theres gotta be some green to be had too.

best bet is probably just let the bud come to me.. I figure someone on the street or in a bar might walk up to me and offer. Especially since id be a tourist lookin guy

yea scratch this idea. ima stick to alcohol when im over there.. been reading up on the laws and enforcement. they have reduced the punishment of small amounts to a fine or rehab instead of imprisonment but if the judge wanted to im sure he could send me to prison.

Probably can't go wrong playing safe, Crankndapot. And I've never been to china either. Having said that, I have spent a lot of years in the communications biz, and if they have reduced sentences for weed then putting an American/Australian/Canadian/European in jail for the same infraction would bring massive PR probs.

The Chinese are rather meticulous about their international image and I highly doubt they would want to discourage visitors by treating a weed smoker like a serious criminal.

...But then again, I like to underestimate the risk of anything that will enhance my enjoyment of a traveling experience...

Where to Buy Marijuana in Beijing:
In Beijing it is very easy to buy hash and pot is also available from time to time. If you don't know anyone, the best thing to do is to go to the Sanlitun bar area, either the bar street itself or to the area in front of the KFC west of Sanlitun Bar Street, opposite the City Hotel. Most of the merchants are West African guys who hang around that area. Another recomended area is the bar street in "nu ren jie", readers found this area helpful in scoring both hash and pot!!


a more recent report we have is :"Beijing is a rapidly changing city. I have not found anything in the Haidian district, but in the Sunlitan district you can still find hash. Just look for the street vendors selling pipes and rolling papers and say 'Hash'. More likely then not they have a small amount available for sale. Prices are around 25$ for 1.5-2 grams.
