WORST VIRUS EVER --- CNN ANNOUNCED
A new virus has just been discovered that has been
classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was
discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply destroys
Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning
are stored. This virus acts in the following manner:It sends itself
automatically to all contacts on your list with the title: 'A Card for
You'.As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so
that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ del keys or the reset
button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently
destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused
panic in New York , according to news broadcast by CNN. This alert was
received by an employee of Microsoft itself. So don't open any mails with
subject: 'A Virtual Card for You.' As soon as you get the mail, delete it
!! Even if you know the sender !!!

The main reason I felt compelled to post this was the simple fact that I received an e-mail just like this saying it was from a trusted member I have known for years who's computer was infected. It's new and improved web shit and it's not to be toyed with.

And TY

Are you shitting me? Ignorance??? Writing a virus isn't something thats terribly easy to do, far from ignorant. Misguided, maybe, ignorant, almost certainly not. Lol, can you tell what I did in college?

Gutsy for life!!!

Any old computer tech will tell ya you cant destroy sector zero. You can overwrite it possibly but you usually need special software that boots directly from disk. Theres no way to overwrite it when you are running the op system. Same way windows wont let you run FDISK or let you format your primary drive while you are running windows from it.

#1 place viruses hide is in user set protected areas like the System Restore area. SR is worthless 99% of the time and isnt protected by anti-virus software. The only way to protect yourself there is to turn it off.

Probably the #1 threat out there is one of the many variants of the VUNDO virus. It hooks itself by attaching a DLL to a system needed program like winlogon.exe that runs itself in safemode too. The only way to rid it is by getting a custom search and destroy program that will let windows kill the system needed process before detaching the DLL linked virus.
