I live in the D.C. area...so that kinda explains weather. I'm interested in doing a simple outdoor grow and I was wondering if yall can give me some pointers on what is needed to do it...thanks
Hello, I too am interested in starting a very basic outdoor grow. Its the season, so why not?? But I have some concerns before I start sweating over this.
My grow location is in a very remote location, (about a 3 mile hike) I was hoping on starting my babies under my current fluro grow until the 4th node or so, and then taking them outside. But..Is it possible for me to just stick them into the ground right away instead of putting them into a larger bucket? It wont be possible for me to transport large amounts of soil to my growing location. It seems to me like this would work out just fine.
Sorry about the hijack, I didnt want to start a new thread and chat isnt an option for me yet. Hopefully this will help out many novice outdoor growers like myself.
Peace!
If its cold, get hollands hope. good for cold climates hence the name. or ruderails strains like lowryder etc...lowryder sound like youre best bet, check em out at gypsy nirvana's.good luck .
start the seeds on site, in the ground if you have alot of seeds and dont mind feeding slugs and cutworms; or use collars to protect them ( fewer seeds). collars can be drinking cups or beer cans with the top and bottom cut out. bugs just walk around them and dont eat your sprout. i use a toilet paper cardboard tube cut in half(makes 2) and plant 2 seeds per tube. but you dont need any of that if you pack live plants into the site. for a carrier, i use a paper shopping bag with six to eight small pots in it. if im seen carrying them it looks like another hiker carrying a six-pack into the woods to get drunk in peace. try not to make trails into yer stuff. visit once in april to plant, once in mid-july to kill males(fertilize on both these trips),twice latter on to pull bud(october)-where i work i get a second harvest of the purple(never as good) later on unless its a snowy cold year. around dc you will have a problem with bud rot because of humidity and fall rains but it will still be profitable and rewarding to grow in those woods\parks. you have an incredible amount of poison ivy there and i would use it to keep the mere mortals out of my garden. hide yer patch well , dont brag about it, dont be seen wearing camo but wear it in the patch when you visit; try to locate them where you dont have to water if ya dont get rains. use mulch, even in rainy areas like dc or say, eastern oklahoma. this is a very soulful, rewarding endeavor. it can be hard work if you go complex. it's highly therapeutic in every way as long as leo isnt involved. your woods skills will get sharp. you will listen to the birds for their warnings. you will learn to track so that no leo or ripper will be waiting for you in your garden. you will grow some killah killah shmit!!! you will piss off the block-heads in office! use chicken wire to fence out deer and cottontails-2inch is very hard to spot and you can tie it quietly onto tree trunks so no one hears a staple gun. good luck and have fun.
