Basement grow with secret wall

This a good idea? Any tips on how to build something like this? And if they had a search warrant, would it be a good chance that they wouldnt find it because it was a secret wall?

it's great for concealing the grow from friends, family and tradespeople who may need to go down there, BUT ... if they ever come in with a search warrant they will likely bring a dog, so it would be useless in that instance. nonetheless, the idea behind a stealth grow is to keep it from getting to the point where a search warrant is issued, so i believe that a false wall is a GOOD thing, as long as it is done right . you don't want people looking at it thinking "hey, why does he have a false wall here ?" .

False doors and such can be very expensive depending on how fancy you want to get. If your room is neg pressure with scrubbers and completely sealed, would the dogs still be able to detect?? I plan on sectioning off the back 1/3 of my basement and put a "safe" room to serve as my grow space. People are doing it regularly now and is a perfect way to get water, power with subpanel, drains, fresh air inflow/outflow etc without raising eyebrows :joint: Underneath the stairs in the storage closet will be a hidden door opening to another regular locked door. Will be like the room doesnt exist even on the house plans :rasta: The area measure 28 x 12ft and is perfect layout for two 10x10 rooms and space for bathroom so spent air can be dumped in there as well as source for water, drains etc; Im a hydro grower and dont like to tote buckets of water. Plenty of info on google. Peace...Doc

Won't do you any good at all. Trust me I just got busted, true I let them in but honestly if your in a basement and have spent all this time constructing a false wall and all that to make it "look" correct, unless your going to sound proof the whole room, the lights make a HUMMMMM sound, if you have fans they make noise, (must have fans to run scubbers) if you do not run the fans then you have to deal with the smell. Next is the clicking sound of the the CO2 if you have that going, if you have a generator it clicks much like a furnace does when it comes on, if you have CO2 in tanks that also makes a click then an air escaping sound.

All in all save yourself the effort it is not worth it, it won't keep you from being busted and it is almost impossible to hide the noise. The only way I can see where it would even be a little bit benefical is if you have young kids that you do not want to see it, but even then once they reach teenage years all bets are off there too as kids are not stupid.

How.. fiberglass insulation, thick drywall.. worse case scenario.. i'd pull the switch on everything if there was warning.

I'm going to have to disagree with Krys and say that this is a good idea. Obviously if you're going thru the trouble of constructing a false wall you're mindful enough to know you'd have to take measures to make sure the grow is not heard as well as not being seen. Would the police still find it? I'd say it depends on how good of a job you do concealing it and how good of a job the police do of looking for it. If the police are in your house though, looking for a grow, you're probably busted but of course your chances are still better than if you just had it out in the open. If you have the time and the money, I say do it!

i dont get why people that grow feel the need to have over 1k in lights and have such a huge set up. if everyone would just grow enough for themselves and a buddy you would be much safer. i'm scraping by right now but i still dont want to sell

sell or not; personal, or not.. it's always good to conceal any illegal operation.

And if you had a perfectly concealed operation, and the cops did a 'knock and talk' and jsut asked to look around, would you allow this or still make them get a warrant. I think if it's perfectly concealed, then why not let them in... because if you dont.. it will raise a red flag and they will get even more suspicious/curious.

I think a secret room would be cool, I'd want one. I only like having about 3 plants at any one time though. Just enough for me, more than enough actually.

Though if I were to have a large grow, a hidden room would be in order. Also I would have a decoy a small cab, meaning they would be already looking for a grow of some sort. They would waltz into my place, and find my decoy, maybe a small locker with 2-3 plants in it.

They found what they were looking for.

The effectiveness of a hidden room with a false wall is proportional to how well you keep your mouth shut.

This is absolutely superb. These things look like they are built to last as well. IMO, the best way to set this is up is as follows - the hidden door is installed in a bedroom as a bookcase or w/e (wine rack in bedroom is out of place usually...). The triggering mechanism to open the door is in a different room or part of the house. The door leads to a void space, sort of between the walls. This void space is completely soundproofed as it contains two things - your exhaust conduits which lead upstairs or are bridged into the chimney in the area between the walls (if upstairs, the place it comes out should have a dehumidifier so there is no rot over the years in one's attic), and a ladder which goes down the sealed off part of your basement. It is sealed completely with stone, cement, cinderblocks, w/e. This would be the perfect system to use with the basement and secret wall. Just my .02 on the perfect setup there.

Peace,
