Jodilynn Jacob, 33, and Jennifer Lee Shultz-Jacob, 48, moved in together as a couple in 1996, and were granted a civil-union license in Vermont in 2002. In addition to conceiving the two children with the help of Frampton — a longtime friend of Shultz-Jacob's — Jacob also adopted her brother's two older children, now 12 and 13

But the women's relationship fell apart, and Jacob and the children moved out of their Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, home in February 2006.

Shortly afterward, a court awarded her about $1,000 a month in support from Shultz-Jacob. Shultz-Jacob later lost an effort to have the court force Frampton to contribute support

The state Supreme Court is currently considering a similar case, in which a sperm donor wants to enforce a promise made by the mother that he would not have to be involved in the child's life. That biological father was ordered to pay $1,520 in monthly support.

About two-thirds of states have adopted versions of the Uniform Parentage Act that can shield sperm donors from being forced to assume parenting responsibilities. Pennsylvania has no such law.

Damn...go donate at a sperm bank, then years later you get summoned into court to pay child support. That's just wrong, especially to pay child support for a lesbian couple when their relationship falls apart.

This is why, if gay couples desire to marry or get their "civil-union license," They should also be obligated under law the same responsibiilties as a married couple. Such as, becoming seperated or divorced and liable for child support.

Now if only the rest of the screwed up family support, custody, and visitation rapings that occur in the domestic courts on a DAILY basis could make the news. This is just a further hit to the male gender's pockets. You DONATE your sperm and you get stuck with support payments. WTF?!

EDIT: In hindsight, the guy should have had a contract in place preventing them from seeking support as terms of the donation. It appears that this wasnt a randon donor situation but rather a friend helping the lesbian couple out. He should have had a better attorney.

just to be fair let's make the point that this is not an isolated case and in some of these cases the situation was where some 'career' woman decides she needs to be a mom, gets some jizz from one of these banks, has the kid and then sues the dude for child support...so in reality its not really a gay thing, its a 'let's fuck men every chance we get with regards to reproductive rights and child custody'-thing, which is one of the wonderful things we can thank feminisim for...retch...

i think the thing to learn from this situation is that the system is set up to fuck men over so badly that even a lesbian couple is able to get in on it...

hmmm wonder what they pay for a donation? lol. Maybe i could do that proffessionaly. Seriously PA has some screwed up laws. I believe there is a law that if you live with a woman and discover that a child is not yours after a dna test you are still liable because you provided a parental role. There is so much corruption here and we just got slot machines. Yet property taxes are going way up.
