Bangkok Betty (BG thai)

hey all, this report is on one phenotype which imo yielded very well, buds were tight, with a above avg tric field. late in flower she had a fruity pebbles aroma, just like crackin open the box of cereal.


the bangkok betty line has been one of the easier sativas to grow. topped early i was able to keep um under control in my 4ft space. this plant once flipped and buddin, she continued through out packin on size.



durin the harvest, really didnt smell like much, seemed the fruity aromas had left. easy chop and trim as these plants were not leafy at all. may have somethin to do with veggin under fluros. myself, i hate real leafy plants.



real happy with the harvested bud, durin the hang they didnt shrink much and was left with a nice bunch of buds. i tried a different approach to dryin this go, and dried under a higher humidity then usual. which took longer, but the resultin bud, was a much nicer smoke. nice spongy buds when ya sqeeze um your bud aint fallin apart.


right off the hang i wasnt to crazy about the smoke. was a head high, but for me didnt seem to have much punch. been close to 3wks now in the jar, had tossed a few buds in a bag to go visit a buddy, and didnt make it till a few days later.

last night i went up to dinner with the sack the buds had been sittin in for a few days passed it to my buddy to load up and we toked up a full bowl. he takes the first hit passes the piece and before i could hit it he says Ummmmmmmm yummy. he always does the um yummy thing, lol.

im thinkin to myself, hmmm i didnt get a yummy taste when i tied it a week earlier, so i take my fair share with a nice deep pull, and WOW, strong sweet juicy CHERRY taste, best ive had as far as cherry taste. deep dark strong cherry flavor. definitly one of the best tastin weeds ive had to date.

couple pulls later my buddy gets up to flip the steaks on the grill and wobbles off his intended path, hehe, all i hear is "im stoneded", lol. nice even head, no paranoia, the buzz just smoothes up on ya, with a great happy feelin and laughter.

im very happy with this plant, id recommend this line to anyone wantin to try a Thai line that is a easy grower for anyone. easy to control as well. top notch offerin. im really lookin forward to the few nugs i have left in another 2 wks.

Sounds nice as hell. Never heard of this strain before. Is it full sativa or just sativa dom? Flowering time? Yield?

hey guys, this plant was pulled at 12 and a half weeks. plenty cloudy trics. beans were gifted by BG.

as far as i know the seed was sourced in thailand, Billy Goat did the selection from those beans and offered it a bit ago. as you can see the leaf fingers appear a bit thick for a straight thai, but after cipherin on it, and the cherry taste, MrGreengenes cherry bomb resembled this plant quite a bit. MrGs offerin is old skool maui wowie, and lean to the Thai in the maui.

pretty close in the leaf, not a dead ringer but im seein how the cherry showed up in the thai. capt crips plants also displayed the Cherry aromas and taste. im still geeked over the intense cherry flavor. somethin you wont see without curin the weed.

as to yield, i can only go by what i produce in a space restricted to 4ft. plants were no bigger then 25 inches at finish, this one was maybe 20 inches at finish. this larger yieldin plant produced 3/4 of a zip, of trimmed dried bud. i kept this plants buds, and the other two went out the door at a solid ozer together.

Hell yeah, sounds nice. I still haven't been able to find any cherry tasting/smelling strains from any of the seedbanks.

Sounds really good, man...Cherry Thai! There's no way in heck that's a pure Thai though. Definitely some Afghani genetics in there somewhere...

nope, the plants were vegged to maturity(alternatin branchin) 3ft+, cut in half, let shoots get a few inches and then to flower. they were under 10/14 entire flower cycle.

Wow CBF, so not what I expected to see when I clicked this thread.

I have a cut of Bangkok Betty, which I almost got rid of prior to trying due to the chance of hermies and such. The leaves are very, very fine, even in veg, and she grows like an octopus when topped.

In the end I decided to flower out the mum (small), but decided to flower her on the edge of my garden away from any wind or intense light.

I flowered her at maybe 6" and she finished stretch at about 14", much less than I expected.

She looks nothing at all like yours, in anyway. Regardless, your thread has inspired me to take some pics which I will post up when I get the chance.

Mine are under 12/12 tho, as the rest of my grow is filled with indicas and hybrids, with a couple sats. I'm just gonna keep her in there until (if) I see male flowers, then she'll finish her business outside.

So far mine has a very earthy and woody smell, very spicey.

yeah i had nanners late, but i believe it is grow related, as all the thai i had i had problems with. capt crip and others had no problems with there plants.

i since rewrapped my OP, and hopefully i have that problem cured. the SD X Haze i have goin now have shown a few nanners, have picked um for a bit now and see if they continue to act up.

WOW, was in chat and was told that CBF just did a report on the Bangkok Betty. Hey CBF and thanks for the report. Good or bad, i was wanting to hear from anyone and i knew you had some problems and we talked VIA PM. Glad this girl turned one more time on you. Meaning the smell and taste came around for you. I've got a report from someone i couldn't remember at another site. They had some what the same pheno as you. The buds didn't smell any or smelled bunk. They cured them any ways and BAM! DANK, they told me they where about to go off and thought the weed was Bunk by just the smell and didn't test any and to their surprise. It was everything they hoped. It was alittle scare for them at first, but they are keeping their mother plant around for along time from what i was told. I'm very happy you found a plant that gave you the Smell, Taste, High, and some what yield. Make me so happy to hear a great report. Just support this cross i did and keeps the future for this line bright. Well, i'm glad you found your Cherry Pheno. You and Capt Crip threw me a major curve ball for sure. Finding a bunch of Cherry Pheno in suck a small batch of seeds is just out of this world. Glad i got my own personal stash with a nice number of seeds to grow out and look at pheno's myself. Think i got about 80-100 seeds left and plus parent plants in safe location for more seeds later on.

Glock, here's the DL on the seeds. A friend called Top 9 fingers got seeds sent to him from Thailand. He then grew out the many seeds that he got from a friend in Thailand. He found a true male and female, or both plants that showed "No" signs of hemi's in testing. He then made seeds and sold them at a some what small site. I caught up with him and was sent some seeds. Well the first run of seeds where the wrong ones. Well, he found the mistake and sent me more of the correct ones. I in turn grew those out and found the best of the bunch. One male and female that i personally STRESSED the hell out of. By the means of Heat,PH, PPM, Light, and every other thing i could think of to Hemi them. I even beat the hell out of a couple of plants and nothing. As to anything in the mix. I can not be 100% sure, since we do not know the location of where the seeds actualy came from in Thailand and if there were anything crossed to it. I can tell you that nothing in Top 9's garden was crossed to this line. Just trying to help anyone wondering about these genes. Thanks for the question or quote Glock.

As for seeds and when there will be more. Some know i had a run in with Johnny and was palced on probation. Well its about over sometime soon i hope. Things are gearing towards Spring Feb-March. Not to have anymore problems. I'll be relocating to Spain, so i won't be worried about growing or making seeds. Seeds are totally legal over there, so there will be plenty for all. I'll be lining something up and hopefully on Seedbay. Not to worry, i'll let everyone know and keep everyone posted.

CBF, sorry about jackin your thread. Just wanted to inform anyone with any questions. Not to worry, i'll make sure you get plenty of the first fresh batch and some of the other Thai's genes i got and crosses. Watch out for the Wild Thai seeds i got from Gypsy and his trip to Thailand. I'll try to dig up that thread. You can't get any better info on where the seeds came from in that thread. I think those seeds have something to offer.

the oriental express im tokin this am has a very slight cherry taste as well. prolly would have never noticed it either if the bangkok betty didnt turn cherry.

the cherry aromas n flavor from my kona cherry carried through pretty dominantly in all the crosses like you think the male thai passed on the cherry you're tastin so that's pretty nice to see there too hehe. kudos again cbf n bg

Hey CBF and King, you two got me thinking. With Capt Crip and now CBF finding a Cherry Pheno in the bunch. It's got me thinking for sure. I know for a fact the mother that is in holding pattern right now. Does have that strong Chocolate smell and taste. So, i'm thinking the same thing. The mother has a plain taste and not really sweet. More like baking chocolate if you know what i mean. The male, which i named "Disco Pete" really didn't have a smell to him. Not one i can remember off hand. I can tell you that the male does produce resin along leafs. Not alot, but visible to the eye. I'm thinking as you two the link to the Cherry pheno might be in the male Thai father i use. I'll have to do some more testing later on, but if both the OE and Betties are showing signs of Cherry Pheno's. It's got to be in the fathers genes. I'd sure like to sample some, but that will have to wait for my return. Atleast i got my personal stash to test and look through the genes of both crosses. Right at 100 seeds to do my own testing. Glad to have members growing the small amount of seeds out and enjoying the fruits of their labor. Thanks everyone and as before. Not to worry, both parent Thai plants are in a couple of safe locations and it won't take me long to get up and running again. First batch of seeds will be a super large one. I'll get them along as fast as possible and in the hands of some tester's.

Hey Capt, I'm working on it. Waiting for them to finally cut me loose. I'm hoping i'll be on the ground and running full speed for Jan 1st. If all works out and no more speed bumps. First seed harvest should be around Feb-March. That is for the quicker crosses. The first batch of Betties will more then likely be about April. Got parents some what close and can have clones running full steam pretty quick. As for a large population grow. I got my own personal stash to run and those will be germed once on the grown, so not to waste any time looking at pheno's. I hope all is well with you as well. I know your pretty busy and always working. Shoot me a PM if you got some time.
