I know stress causes this, and I first thought that maybe it was too close to the light but since then the bananas have only become more profuse, do i need to take drastic action and chop her down... I run a perpetual harvest so i have different stages of plants in the same room with the bananad hash plant... i dunno what to do it seems a waste to chop down the plant

Are the nanners viable? i.e. are they actually producing pollen.

I occasional see a nanner on my Royal Hawaiians but they are always waxy with no pollen at all. I don't worry and have no seeds.

Use a pair of tweezers and pluck a nanner from the plant and rub between your fingers. If it leaves a yellowish smudge you've got pollen :(

My eunch nanners look just like others until you look at them very closeup. Then you can tell they are waxy with no pollen on them. Hmm, maybe I can get a shot of one with my microscope.

In my experience the early nanners tend to be pollen droppers more so than the late ones. When I get the infrequent late pod they seem to halt formation about halfway thru but the early ones still have that vegging vigor going so I'll see the result on the topside of a leaf underneath the offending pod.

The late ones tend to develope emerging out from the bud but the early ones tend to develope right at the bottom where the first bud meets the branch. If you have them forming mixed in with the top part of the bud amongst the cluster of hairs then pretty much forget it that plant is going to pod out like crazy.

I think thats the last one I listed then. Where theres nanners forming where the bud is cresting at the tip. Some buds will have that look and not be. If it were my call I would wait until I confirmed the nanner transformation to a verified pod. If the pods are forming there then I would axe he(r). It will produce buds with hermie seeds in many stages, most of them the little small popcorn variety. Sorta fun, till it knocks out an eye.

Yeh, I got a few hermies in my Sensi Shiva/Skunk. The two or three male hermies (males with pistil hairs) got chopped and no matter. Two female plants put out some male flowers early in bloom. The flowers were located at the stork only but I removed the two plants .... So from 16 seeds (all germed) got 5 normal females. js.

Most of the pods I have even on my males will have wet pods that are mush until they are ready to drop and then they turn dry and will display pollen when broken open.

I think he means stalk instead of the popular bird responsible for where babies come from. At least all the ones fathered by me.

spliff , it is not uncommon for plant with heavy indica line to throw out a male flower from a female plant they are not hermies it is because the plant is trying to survive (I think it termed a intersex plant) they smoke just as well any other. Peace and be safe dequilo

Yeh, I was surprised and a little dissapointed with finding 5 hermies, never heard of it in the Shiva so I chopped 'em straight away. I did use some SuperThrive (med strength), normally don't, and this could have had catalyzed male flower appearance. PHOTOPERIOD mistakes can make males .... I didn't do that.

The Shiva had another unusual trait..... female bud on shade leaf.... same as described by ICYSURFER : "A small pre-budlet or strange leaf is sticking out from one of the fans..." ICY was describing a Gonzo#1 which is Sk/Basic5 x WilliamsWonder..... so maybe Sk/B5 is used in both ..... :joint:

very strange...
dequilo i was finding that the bananas had pollen... i wasnt worried about how it smoked.. i was worried about it pollinating all the other plants..

Spliff, they will have pollen because it is a real male flower and will pollenate your plant but the seeds have a good chance of being femalized (sp) be safe dequilo

trust me i feel your pain!....just found a few nanners on my girls but i knew they might be there!....like someone mentioned earlier that the plant is only trying to SURVIVE! and to keep her cycle going she must produce pollen some how!!(nanners)....i like to read and i read this while doing some research...my nanners seem to only pop up at the very lowest of my branches! i'm in between my 4th-5th week of flower! stress has a major part in produceing this nanners also!....i only had three! seeds from my last run and the plants i have today are there product!....so to be honest i really did'nt care to see them there...and like you my friend i did'nt want to CHOP!...lol...it's funny too because for my first run EVER! i had like almost 15 plants in like 6sqfeet!....
