Banana smoke report

Here is an interesting one . . .this one is called Banana and I don't know anything about it except that it really looks like the same banana that is mentioned in the Ultimate Sativa Thread. Unfortunately that is about the only other mention of the strain I found on the internet and that dude didn't know much about, either.

Here is a nug shot for ya:

My camera doesn't really do a good job of showing it but these nugs have a yellow-ish hue. Like pale green nugget covered with pale golden trichs . .or something like that. Anyway if you look at a big pile of it then it really looks yellow compared to a big pile of another weed.

The smell is way tropical. It's strong smelling and fruity, a little dankness to it but not really skunky at all. The taste is less impressive than the smell - it is not a really distinct taste but it is smooth and heavy smoke.

This herb is the most heavily triched in my nug collection at the moment. It really fills up the kief trap on my grinder.

Like I said, I don't know jack about this herb. The high is kind of racy like a sativa but can also be confusing like an indica. It's not really a couch-locker and it won't totally put me to sleep. It's got an edginess like trainwreck. It's not what I would call euphoric at all. I would almost say it's a sativa except the heavy trichs seem to suggest some indica parentage, no?

If anybody knows about this strain I would love to learn more about it.

Thanks for the pics and report!

Trainwreck and resulting crosses can sometimes have an odor like fruit loops, and mine has very pale nugs that are highly trich covered.

Just an idea.

I have a strain called bawanna...it is very smooth and a heavy indica high..
from what I know of this strain, it is old and needs a little vigor added to the mix...I'm thinking of adding my skunk #1 pollen to make bannana skunk...we'll see how that goes.
even though I haven't grown her out yet....my mate had a beautiful run with it 5500watts==9#....quite impressive to say the least..
It lookes just like the one you have,,,the smell is amazing but doesn't fully come through with taste...I love the smoke and if the yields are like that...though I am finding it to be a hard plant to clone...maybe it's the age of the cut.
I hope this helpped. Do you have a cut?

Thanks for the replies on this one. I don't have a cut of this and don't think I can get one, either. I bought a big sack of this stuff a while back and smoked some and thought it was pretty good.

I tried to figure out what it was and I came across Bawanna and Banana Kush and I pretty much ruled them out - as much as you can just from pics and descripts, anyway. Plus the guy I got it from was pretty specific with "Banana" and he generally gets it right . .although he had no further info other than that.

I then put the rest up in some jars where they got forgotten about for about 8 months-1 year. Fast forward to now.

I was reading the Ultimate Sativa thread here
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=36181

and I saw the pic and discription of a strain called Banana.

as far as I know its anyones guess where the hell this next one came from. But its an american favorite. rare and exotic. This is the natural color of these buds. they grow a distinct olive, gold and grey color. The smell is amazing and intangible. like banana nut bread and peppery spices. mellow stony happy high. Thick cigar smelling smoke.

When I saw that I was like "Dang! I have some of that"! And I went to the closet and dug it out and did this smoke report. The pics I took don't really show the yellow like this guys does . . . but my buds in real life look like the one in his photo. Mine is also just like he describes except for the happy high bit (I find it racy). . which I suppose is subjective. I'm pretty high on it right now and I would say it's def a sativa type high. I might have that herb, or a cross of it, or something completely unrelated . . .it's hard to tell.

I don't know what it is but its kept by some higher level growers.

it started coming into new orleans years ago with other very rare strains. headband before anyone even heard of NYCD much less headband. williams wonder. and a few other hard to finds that used to show up in high end commercial.

Not really. Northern Cali for sure but don't know exactly where. I'd love to check your pics when they're up . .I'll be watching for them.

This is one of those strains that makes me feel like none of my friends are really truly pot snobs because they tend to not see the value in this vs Purple Erkle, etc. (I love PE, too, though).

Thanks Lou! Searching on BananaLou I came across this

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=4937

Bwanana - Crazy Indica.

These pics look super similar to what I got except I would bet that what I got is crossed once with something like TW. That would make total sense if that were the case.

Anyway . .thanks a bunch for the responses . .now I know a little more about the herb I have as well as herb in general. Gotta love the internets.

I think you're definitely right about that. Ceiling is an interesting aspect of the high and one I don't normally explore because I usually take 2 or 3 rips and go on about my business vs extended sessions of smoking. Even so I - when I do take 3 rips of this. .the 3rd one is not really doing much.

Its a nor cal sohum strain been around for quite awhile (info coming from "higher" level grower-LOL) My patients like it cause its lighter high than the couchlocks- we call it "bud-light" It tastes like bananas on the exhale and gets very frosty. Is ready in 42-45 days. I was told by oldtimers that its some sort of skunk cross. I enjoy it.
