Ballast Wiring Help.

I bought a 50w ballast a while ago and never got around to wiring till today. anyway im used to ballasts with a capacitor and an ignitor. This one didnt come with a capacitor and it says its optional.

so anyway i cant figure out this wiring diagram. I understand the black how wire connects to one of these wires from the ballast labeled 120v, and theres another one that goes to the lamp labeled lamp. but theres a 3rd wire from the ignitor labeled com that also goes to the lamp.

ok there 3 wires in the electrical cord. hot, neutral and ground. if im to understand this correctly then im wiring the hot to the 120v, and then the lamp goes on the hot side of the bulb, and the com side to the neutral plug on the bulb.

ok so what do i do now? am i wiring the neutral to the com wire and then to the other side of the bulb?

so it looks like
--------hot-----||120v----------
===========================|
=========================== >---lamp------
===========================|=========== >(socket)<
-----neutral-----||com----------------------------
this crude diagram wont show right im sure so i included pics of the ballast and diagram.

ignore the = equal signs its for formatting.

after some more searching and double checking i went ahead and hooked it up. it works. i must be a real pothead because my other ballast is just like this one for the most part.

anyway i hooked it up and test fired it. nothing blew up. i thought it was broke for a second because it takes like a minute to heat up. it was just dim for about 20 seconds and i was like fuck... not my bulb is dead. but it came on and after heating up quickly filled my room with the glow of 1000 suns and i had to quiclky shut it off.

i didnt think to take pictures for other people but its pretty straight forward once you figure out how to read the diagrams and remember your principles of AC current flow.
