Badass $10 DIY cellphone microscope

Harvest the lens from a cheap laser pointer, and build a stand to mount it in. Pretty simple really, and the results look pretty good. The site I found it on is: I fucking love science

Well, I've seen plenty of macros using a magnifier in front of the camera lens. This is the first time I've seen the lens from a laser pointer used. And the stand is simple, but it's a huge improvement over trying to hold the phone still at close range. The shots that people are posting using this setup are more like from a microscope, rather than a macro lens. I can't wait to build one and throw some buds under it!
