Bad seeds...Advice please

My normal routine, paper towel, for seed germination has been reliable in the past. My most recent effort was disappointing, 10 of 10 cracked, 6 promptly rotted the other 4 did fine. I'm thinking about treating the seeds with a peroxide solution prior to germination if that will help, not sure about the ratio.

I hope there is something that will help I have 5 more packs of seeds from this breeder.

Some you may just want to leave in a fold of the paper towel and put em under the flos.

Warm? yes....Seeds and clones love waterbeds.

Seeds cracked but no other signs of life, they then rotted and smelled. I assume its bacteria or fungus. If it hasn't penetrated the shell I want to try to sterilize the seeds, but I have a feeling it already has.

I just want to make the best effort possible before I gripe to the breeder, privately.

sounds like old beans to me.I just went through something similar, and then I found out the beans I had were really old.

I have had some germ probs with my sour d's. I must say that they spent several months in a freezer with rice. I used to store all my seeds this way but then moved them to the fridge. I germed older seeds that had been in longer no prob. I used a heat mat on the 1st 5 and got 1 runt that was short live. I used the same method with the second 5 and got 3 vigorous starts , 1 slow learner and 1 no show. I have to think that the freezer had something to do with it.

I just popped 4 Gonzo # 1 and had 3 out 4 show up. I used the papertowel method in a zip lock in a warm dark place . I think the SD's were purchased about 11 months ago.

Well I'm not sure what the problem was, I don't freeze seeds. I germinated 2 more packs from the same breeder and the results were very respectable.

Age or a particular batch. Moral of the story? Make seeds.
