It seems Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh could not come to an agreement over some issues(Money I'm sure) with New Line Cinemas, ending their 11 year relationship with the Movie line. Peter of course was the hopefull to direct a movie rendition of "The Hobbit" and also a Prequel to "The Hobbit". New Line Cinemas are presently searching for a new director to do the project.Apparently peter's film company Wing Nut studios is sueing NewLine Cinemas at the moment and untill there is resolution, the two entitys can no longer work together. It's obvious I'm a LOTR fan and this is crappy news, as Filming of the "The Hobbit" was slated to start sometime next year w/ Peter at the helm once again.

 lame.

He did such a nice job bringing the trilogy to the big screen and creating a whole new generation of LoTR fans.

I dont think it will be the same without him, but hopefully The Hobbit and the other prequel will still be realized on the big screen.

I also thought newline or PJ bought the rights to the Simillarion also ?

not a big loss I dont think. talk about boring movies.... well it took me 2 attempts over 20 years to read lotr and it was long and mildly interesting. then I went to the movie and it was line for line from the book. long and tedious... the movie where they fight at the keep is good.... as for the rest too chick flick-ish for me and too ....something about just following the book line for line hour after hour.

the prequel is equally not interesting and offers nothing new to the story. you can skip it altogether in my view.

perhaps he said no on creative grounds

as an alternative a really interesting movie would be the Chronicals of Thomas Covenant, white gold wielder and so on. Now it is recognised that Stephen Donaldson took his inspiration from Tolkien but I found his story more involving, exciting and imaginative than lotr.....imho a much better candidate for this type of movie story

if you haven't read COTC then I recommend it to any lotr fans

easy all
